My Antenna Broke...

So my remote site has suffered a bit of damage after some 140km/h winds smashed into the side of the mountain that it is located on.

The 2m and 70cm antenna are both damaged and will need to be removed and replaced. I've spent considerable time and effort into this project, so it was a sad sight to see.

The remote site 99% of the time sits on 144 MHz WSPR as a beacon for other stations to listen for during openings of propagation such as tropospheric ducting or sporadic E.

For those who would like to donate toward the replacement of the antennas, please use this link:

love the view. I was in your area a little while back, (Feb 1989 I think), lol. Loved the area. Love your show. KD2TYH

Hi from the UK. Very interesting report from a great location. In the UK we are fortunate not to have much wildlife that could be dangerous, we all have an obligation not to interfere with the other inhabitants of the planet, so another lesson learned! While we do not have the opportunity to set up remote stations, such as yours, we do get occasional high winds and your video certainly highlights the need to ensure our kit is up to the job! Good luck with your rebuild, I to have one of Callum's All Band Verticals, so maybe when I can use more power we could meet up on the bands. 73 Jim M7BXT (Limited to 10 watts by my Foundation License)

As an add on to my previous comment. I went to your drone video straight after watching this one. That is a beautiful location and I can now understand the environmental limitations, if I had a spot like this I would never leave! 73 Jim M7BXT
