My Antenna Broke...

So my remote site has suffered a bit of damage after some 140km/h winds smashed into the side of the mountain that it is located on.

The 2m and 70cm antenna are both damaged and will need to be removed and replaced. I've spent considerable time and effort into this project, so it was a sad sight to see.

The remote site 99% of the time sits on 144 MHz WSPR as a beacon for other stations to listen for during openings of propagation such as tropospheric ducting or sporadic E.

Hi from the UK. Very interesting report from a great location. In the UK we are fortunate not to have much wildlife that could be dangerous, we all have an obligation not to interfere with the other inhabitants of the planet, so another lesson learned! While we do not have the opportunity to set up remote stations, such as yours, we do get occasional high winds and your video certainly highlights the need to ensure our kit is up to the job!
