That said, smaller antennas are likely to cause issues with your speeds or connection

Putting antennas near a grounded metal case desensitizes them anyways so really it doesnt matter the gain or the size of it. Its better if its further away from any metal objects and in line to the source without objects blocking it as possible.

We connected a old tv antena to my friends pc with a tv booster well we kinda see wifi around a block but only connect to wifi within the home

So the antenna is directly proportional to your type of internet. All Wi-Fi antenna at 2.4 ghz (what it looks like you have) worth their salt will be that length (about 12.5 cm) because that is the wavelength of that specific Wi-Fi frequency. You could get a 5 ghz connection that uses an antenna that is about 6 cm, if that’s more your fancy 🍲
