Simocephalus sp.

This is a Simocephalus for sure, but I have no clue as to what species this is. The head shape is reminiscent of Simocephalus vetulus, the ocellus is extremely small (unlike any Simocephalus) and is shaped like that of S. expinosa, and the body shape resembles S. serrulatus. Anyone who knows this species, please tell me.

I found this guy in a sample of soil water. I originally added about 5 of these into the tank of water from a sample of lake water that I collected from my neighborhood.

I've had both S. serrulatus and S. vetulus in my lake water samples. Occasionally I get a few S. serrulatus x vetulus hybrids with the vertex and ocellus phenotypes matching one or the other species... you'd probably know all about those, though, and it sounds like you're pretty confident about this ID...

It's hard to tell from the video but it looks like there could be serrations on the vertex of the head and with a small ocellus it could be Simocephalus serrulatus
