How to Tell If Your HONEY is Raw or Processed! Dr. Mandell

You must be aware that not all honey is the same! Raw Natural Honey contains mostly sugar, as well as a mix of amino acids, vitamins, minerals, iron, zinc and antioxidants. In addition to its use as a natural sweetener, honey is used as an anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antibacterial agent. People commonly use honey orally to treat coughs and topically to treat burns and promote wound healing.

Raw honey will also cristalize. So if you see honey that cristalized please don't throw it out. You only need to run the jar under hot water to make it spread better. These days I can't find Raw honey in grocery stores. I'm in Canada. So 👋from 🇨🇦✊Thanks dr Mandel.

Here's the summary for you folks:
1. Raw honey should not be runny on your thumb.
2. In vinegar any honey should not foam.
3. Best test - In water the raw honey would not dissolve, it should sink right in.
4. Heat - Raw honey will not light with match stick. Processed honey will light when using a match stick.

I’ve got some honey that I harvested from my own hives 5 years ago and it still hasn’t crystallised. The best way to get “raw” honey is buy it from you local bee keeper.

Honey ranges in colour from clear like lemon juice to black as tar. Depending on the floral source. It also varies in viscosity. Also some will crystalize some will not. This is in Australia. The best honey in the world

Thank you very much, Dr. Mandell! In Germany we have honey in glass jars. And the contents are defined. You can be sure if honey comes along in plastic it is of minor quality, often loaded with pesticides. The pesticides are killing the bees. Big problem in Europe.
We also have a warning not to give honey to children under two years.
We also try to buy local, and if possible, directly from the beekeeper.

I am so lucky to live in Spain near town that has an actual bee farm. I can visit the hives than buy all kinds of raw honey products. I can buy different kinds of raw honey depending on which plants and flowers they pollinated and got the honey from. Helps with my allergies a lot.
