R.I.P. great David Sanborn, here at 24 years on his alto sax.

These guys played the Monterey Pop Festival in '67 and Woodstock in '69 and were cut from BOTH movies! Talk about getting

It's a shame this didn't make the Woodstock movie or LP! Guitarist Buzz Feiten at 19 years old should be included along with Hendrix & Alvin Lee as one of the greatest guitarists to have played this festival! And he's still around and playing great today!

Probably the most underrated band in the history of rock. They were amazing!

His rendition of this on his live album is the greatest harp playing ever, in my lifetime Butterfield will never be surpassed when it comes to blues harp, him and little Walter were a step above. I salute him, canned heat, Siegel–Schwall band, Rory Gallagher, wet willie, ford brothers, Roy Buchanan. Don’t get me wrong friends, the black blues masters from the 30’s to the 70’s made these white boys what they were and we as music lovers will forever be in their debt. What a great time to have lived through though.

If this clip had been in the original Woodstock film, this band's trajectory would have skyrocketed. Instead, the world knows more about Sha Na Na that the Butterfield Band....such a

An absolute crime that this incredible performance was left on the cutting floor! I realize cuts had to be made but somebody really effed it up slicing this one. Imho best performances were this, Ten Years After, Santana, Sly & the Family Stone and Jimi.

Crazy how much David Sanborn sounded like himself as young as he was here. He definitely knew how he wanted to sound. What a legend!

I was 14, had been playing harp since I was 5 yrs old. My parents were having a party playing the Woodstock vid & I came down the stairs to see this and just “froze”…from that day on Butter became my musical idol. Down to his resonance, stylistically…he opened my eyes to the blues. I’m now 50 years old…and still playing though not like I was even four years ago. Butterfield was & is the essential blues harpist. To me at least.

The harp, the bass, the guitar, the horns, the drums, the keys, all of it sounds SO good

I had no idea that David Sanborn played at Woodstock. It’s unbelievable to hear those licks coming out in this clip, 15 years earlier than I first heard them as a Sanborn fan in the earlym80’s.

I remember this blowing me away as a kid. The guitar solo is killer as is the whole band. Rick Beato needs to do a " why this performance is so great " segment and start here. So much to talk about with this great under rated band
