1976 Oldsmobile 98 Recency Junkyard Find. Heartbreak City right here. It's not often that sych a nice clean survivor type makes it into the yard but it does happen on occasion. And this is such an occasion. This 76 Olds 98 really didnt deserve to be scrapped. This one survived all these years without any rust, no major body damage, or interior deterioration only to be junked. She made it 44 years. Just a sad situation here. I can only wonder why they chose to junk it. The olds 445 and transmission were pulled immediately and are now on Facebook marketplace.

MAN! That car is way to clean to be there!! Looks like it sat in a garage all it's life! Man what a damn shame!!

Damn...such a shame! That 98 is still solid.
This has become one of my favorite YouTube channels. You present and narrate your vids really well, and I definitely share your appreciation of these old land yachts. I especially like how you treat the cars with respect -- closing the doors and leaving it as you found it. Even in a junkyard, these old cars still deserve their dignity.

You're sounding reserved in this video - almost like a funeral director...Then again, junkyards are essentially graveyards for cars. These heavyweights snatch on my heartstrings - esp. the 98's. Man, this one deserves better. Thanks!

So sad. That car didn’t deserve to be in the junkyard. If i has the money I would restore it to the original condition. That car is a classic.

Thank you for all the nice posting you do. Nothing is really left out from your descriptions and tours of the cars. Being a large Oldsmobile fan, it is sad to see another large Oldsmobile losing its 455 to most likely another wanna be 442 clone.

Oldsmobile made the best cars in the 70s and 80s

I wasn't going to comment but for a 40 plus year old car this Oldsmobile 98 is surprisingly in decent shape, not bad at all inside & out. Thank you for sharing!

This is sooo, sooo sad !!! These are actual survivors of the 70's era....the 'Land Yacht 's', .... look at that frame- just like the day it rolled out of Detroit....DAMN !!!! This thing is in excellent shape !!!

Man it gets harder seeing something as decent as this ending up in the junk yard. She's a solid candidate.

Benny this has to be the cleanest car you have ever shown us that’s made it into the junkyard. Everything is clean and plush. It’s a shame doesn’t cover this one.
45 years old and looks 5 years old.

I owned a 76 98 coupe. I paid 89 dollars for it in 2000. It ran but had one dead cylinder and a smashed grill. The front seat was a sofa. It was so plush.

YES I bet that someone passed, and the fam just GAVE it away for scrap. The good news is that there are a few left out THERE, but not up here in the salt belt Keep up the good work CRS

Looks like this car might have been an Ebay car or online for sale to be in that good of shape...possibly even a dealer trade-in from an estate. Yeah definitely was in a garage or covered for most of it's life, and to smell good inside it was more then likely a elderly owner at one point. Just shameless what someone will throw away as salvage for penny's of what could have been worth if sold.

Look how tenderly he touches the car like it's a living thing.

My brother bought a 72 Regency 455 4 door in around 1981 or so, High miles but very strong old tank...I remember terrorizing some other kids in a 75-ish Monte Carlo...they threw some garbage at us and we chased them...the Olds 455 tracked down their asses in short order and we returned fire - tossing beer cans at them at 100 + MPH! Them were the days! Great car for the drive-in in the 80s too...dad found a spare bra in the back deck one Saturday morning I do recall...

065 on the tire means the sixth week of 1995, or possibly 1985, only 3 digits were used before the year 2000. Sad to see such a rust free car in the junkyard. I have a 75 just like it with 15000 miles. Kool video. Still waiting for the video of the 71 Lincoln.

Whoa Nelley, very early 1976, built in August of 1975. August 21, 1975 was a Thursday. Here we go. VIN is 3 for Oldsmobile, X for 98 Regency, 39 for four door, T for 455 Olds V8 with four barrel, 6 for 1976 model year, M for Lansing, MI assembly and the rest is the production sequence.

Trim tag is ST76 for 1976, 3CX39 for Olds 98 Regency 4 door, LAN is the Lansing, MI assembly plant. 08C is the third week of August 1975 (in this case August 21, 1975) production, 74C is for the red velour interior, 11 is for white exterior paint, 11T should be a white vinyl top, AM6 is a split 60/40 seat, C09 and B84 are trim codes. I believe C09 denotes a full vinyl top, and B84 is a molding code.

Straight, straight, straight!
