When I look at peoples eyes, it’s like I get lost and mind goes blank. I have a lot less anxiety when I talk with someone without facing them, like in a car or on opposite sides of the couch. Do u know what I can do?

I cried during the second one, but I will keep practicing. Thank you for this!

People don’t actually tell me I’m weird, I just assume that people think I am even if I have no evidence..

Did anyone else feel strange and couldn’t stop laughing? 😂 I don’t know why. I just laughed uncontrollably. But, thanks for this video. I’ll use it to practice eye contact. The thing is, you’re not saying anything so it felt weird. Just like someone staring at you for no reason. 😂

I'm surprised how well I handled the 2nd level, sort of acknowledging the goofiness of the situation and smiling confidently along the session, even responding to the comments in an assertive manner. Great video man, secretly fell in love

Being told i looked absolutely fine by people, while i was staring at them with aerobatic eyeballs, was very strange to me.
I used to force myself to have eye contact with people, but found their faces becoming a blur and my heart feeling like a brick.
When i finally started to ask people "Do my eyes look weird", most said, i seemed confident and showed no issues at all.
For all those years, that suffering was going on inside me, and i never asked anybody how or why i was feeling this way.
Nobody was detecting a problem with my weird eyes, and that was a bit of a confidence boost. I thought, if they can't see how much anxiety i'm suffering, WHY??? should i.
I started to shift the focus on people not noticing, and it helped a lot.
30 years on, I still have had eye anxiety occasionally, it's never going to fully go away. but the anxiety weakens with age..
You start to care less and less the older you get. which is why so many young people suffer with anxiety, While old people (like myself) are more focused on just getting on with other things. like REPLACING ANXIETY WITH WISDOM.

Thanks for helping me. I have struggled with social anxiety since I was a little kid, and is still a struggle. I enjoyed this practice.

The problem with me is I can’t get myself to have that glazed calm look. The pandemic messed me up badly, I ended up having severe social anxiety. The fact that I act awkward & I can’t make eye contact is where I get my anxiety from . I used to never be this way 😓

Due to the aversive nature of Level 2 I would recommend describing it somewhat beforehand, and also explaining the purpose and appropriate emotions afterward.
Before: "I may make some expressions you dislike".
After: The purpose was ...

Guy: “your so nervous, just stop being nervous man... scoffs what a weirdo” Also guy: stares at me and gives me random dirty looks for no reason, for nine minutes and 18 seconds straight....

FINALLY SOMETHING THATS NOT SOME STUPID DATING ADVICE 😭
I have social anxiety and I'm going to high school in person this August (I spent all 3 years of middle school doing virtual due to social anxiety and other mental stuff) and I'm practicing for my first time interacting with other people my age again!
