I like how a major criticism for adaptations is you should make something your own, and never adapt something one for one… but this also doesn’t mean removing all semblance of character arc and development. I’d rather a complete 1 for 1 adaptation of ATLA than this cut up garbage. They remove these *seemingly* small things, but the end result stays the same— and they expect us to care? This company is just wearing ATLAs body like a skinwalker while it’s still alive.

Perfectly put. There just wasn't enough consideration to the actual characterization in the live action. The wasted so much time on exposition while cutting out the events that establish the things they are trying to tell you about. Like when aang just spells out the things he likes doing, instead of showing scenes with him doing those things.

I was already side-eying some of their choices. I'm good on the show. Haven't started it and wouldn't pay for it. Just gonna mentally put it in a folder called "better than the movie but not by much" and never watching it... 🤦🏽‍♀️

My only issue with this scene in the cartoon is one I think kataras scars should’ve stayed. Just to be a constant reminder. And aang shouldn’t have gotten over it so easily in the guru episode.

Bro they cut Aang learning water bending. In the water book, what’s the point?
And wanna know what the worst part is? They have 8 episodes an hour or so long, the original series is 20 minutes episodes, so 1 LA episode can fit 3 animated episodes. 8x3 = 24 they could have easily made it one to one and still have some time over. There was no timing reason to cut anything. They have no excuse for removing the important bits.
