Y'all when she said the cake literally melts in your mouth.

Trust me she is not exaggerating, I have tried this recipe and this was the softest cake I have ever made.

Since this comment is acknowledged by so many people i would like to add a few more things

I would highly recommend you using a kitchen scale for this recipe
Also don’t worry about the amount of sugar in the recipe because it is perfect
And the sour cream balances out the sweetness of the cake

I make this in an 8 inch glass square pan and then add the frosting on top after the cake cools without taking it out of the pan which makes it even easier to assemble and then just serve

This recipe for me is like an instant chocolate cake recipe when i need to make chocolate cake for dessert and i only have less than 2 hours!
💞💞
I hope this helps anyone trying to bake a dessert for their loved ones!

I recommend using coffee as apposed to just plain warm water, it brings out the chocolate flavour even more!!!

Ok I just baked this. This is it. Easy delicious chocolatey chocolate cake that does melt in the mouth omg. So good warm out of the oven. I like the sour cream frosting too but here are some things I did and would do better next time :
I didn't have milk chocolate or regular cocoa powder. I only had dark chocolate and dark cocoa powder. So here's what I did to adjust : 5 tbsp instead of 8 tbsp cocoa since mine is dark. Turned out perfectly chocolatey without being bitter. Added half a tsp instant coffee to the warm water to enhance chocolate flavour. Perf. Cut down sugar to 100g and it's perfect for me since I don't like super sweet stuff. Yes even with dark chocolate and bitter coffee and all, 100g was enough sweetness for me so if you like less sugar do try, if it goes wrong you can always make the frosting sweeter or add syrup to cake. I did bake time 30 mins but it was still overshot a little bit since I used a spread out 8 in pan I didn't have smaller but cake was still thick enough, fluffed well. Next time I'd start checking for done from 25 mins to ensure all the moisture remains in the final cake, maybe it should only take 2 mins less or so since it was still very moist; this is the most moist choco cake I've tried, so amazing. For frosting I melted dark choco and some sweet white choco with sour cream and added 10g more sugar on top it's still a bit sour next time I'd reduce sour cream a little bit. Maybe 1: 1.5 ratio instead of 1: 1.36 ratio. The sour frosting still balances out well enough with the cake though and it's definitely still tasty and sweet-ish. I didn't use parchment /baking sheet and my cake fell apart during transfer but that's on me, should've used parchment paper plus not transfer while so warm, but I couldn't wait haha. That's all from me. I'll surely bake it again this cake is just superb.

I know sour cream is often mixed into the batter (mayo too can be used) to make it moist, but I’ve never heard of it being used in the frosting before! I’ll have to try that sometime

:> Enjoy!

**Ingredients:**
- 1 and 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 and 3/4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 and 3/4 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water

**Instructions:**
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
2. In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
3. In another bowl, beat the sugar and eggs until creamy. Add in the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract, mixing well.
4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
5. Stir in the boiling water; the batter will be thin, but that's normal.
6. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans.
7. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
8. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

**Frosting:**
- You can frost the cake with your favorite chocolate frosting or ganache.

**Tips:**
- For a richer flavor, use dark cocoa powder.
- Experiment with different frostings, such as cream cheese frosting or a chocolate ganache.
- Add chocolate chips or chopped nuts to the batter for extra texture.

Enjoy your delicious homemade chocolate cake!
