I ordered the signature 11 three weeks ago, just before the update. When they announced the update, returning the 11 for the 12 signature. Sure, little difference between the two, but I keep my e-readers for a long time (still, use my 9 year old voyage, which I’m updating from), but the speed, jade color and (about) $40 difference whiter (non blue) with the slight yellow tinge is preferable. Going for the latest is my choice.

Sticking with the 11, now Colorsoft we‘ll see.

Model 12 is of course noticeably more responsive than 11, but guys this is a book, we don’t scroll through a news feed jumping from one article to another, we turn the page once every ~20 seconds. Just because of this, changing the old model for a new one seems stupid. If you didn't have an e-book, of course take the 12 model, but if the 11th model is sold at a good discount you might think about it.

I'm glad you addressed the screen being more cream and less white than the 11th generation but it actually looks way more creamy in person than in your video by far. the 11th generation is like looking at a new newspaper and the 12th generation looks like looking at an old yellowed newspaper in real life. A new user to Kindle will never notice or know the difference but I do think that older users will be bothered by it. The brighter you turn the device up the more the text looks more brown and not black on the 12th generation. That's not the same on the 11th generation.

If you discard the older Paperwhite for the new one simply for the minor upgrades, you essentially cancel out the recycled materials of the new one.

Im happy the new one is a bit more paper-like in terms of white. Looks more pleasing.

I got my new Kindle Signature Edition yesterday afternoon. I spent a couple of hours playing with it and doing some reading. I upgraded from the 11th gen. The first thing I noticed is this thing is FAST. Page turns are lightning fast. Swipe down for controls is super fast. There is no lag that I perceive in any of the usual things you do with a Kindle. It's about as fast as using my iPhone and my iPad, i.e., I don't feel like the Kindle is "old technology". Honestly I think this is worth the upgrade alone.

I like the new background color. I use the warmer background on my iPhone Kindle app and both are about the same. This is another thing I like. I'd rather have the same visual experience whether I'm looking at a smaller screen or a bigger screen. The "metallic" back doesn't seem metallic. I'm curious why they use that name. It is smoother than the 11th gen but still "grippy". At first use it seems like it will be less of a fingerprint magnet and easier to clean. I need to use it more before I'll really know.

I think it's a worthy upgrade. I suspect I'll use this one for a long time before upgrading again.

I have the PAPERWHITE 5 and the PAPERWHITE 4 and and I also have the 2022 BASIC in Denim Blue. They all look and function like brand spanking NEW. I honestly can't see a good reason to upgrade yet. Granted the 2024 doe's seem slightly faster but definitely not "MUCH" faster as stated. At $160.00 or $200.00 I'll wait until the prices drop and they definitely will soon as always.

Having a whiter screen is a plus imo since you can make the screen more yellow by adding warm light but can't make the screen of 12th gen as white as the one on 11th gen.

I'd buy the new one of course if I didn't have any e-readers but I don't see any reason to upgrade.

And body got bigger and you can't use your old cases.

Just got my new paperwhite signature edition in! Can confirm you will need a new case, and it is lightning fast compared to the 2022 paperwhite signature edition. The increased contrast ratio is also noticeable and appreciated🥰

No, it is not worth an upgrade. Literally nothings changed. Speed isn't needed for reading books. 0.02 increase in screen size. Battery is never an issue on paperwhite series.

I mean it's hard to upgrade an already perfect ereader as in the 11th gen. This model is for new comers or people replacing an old or broken kindle ereader. And I'm fine with that. Nothing needs changing.

ok, it's faster, barely bigger and irrelevantly bigger: not worth buying if you have an 11gen

The older one's light getting bluer than the newer version is in my opinion an advantage. It already has adjustable warmth anyway, not letting it be as blue is just cutting your option. One can argue that you'll never wanna read it with hospital blue light, but if you want, well on the older you can and if you don't then there's literally a slider there to fix it.
Definitely not enough of an upgrade for who has the 11th generation in my opinion, now the Colorsoft seems interesting instead.

I'm sticking to my 3 year old Paperwhite 11. Good things go up to 11 according to Spinal Tap.

worth an upgrade for me. selling my 11th gen regular paperwhite and buying the 12th gen Signature Edition. More memory for audiobooks, faster interface and page turning, wireless charging and auto adjusting light.

When you showed the charging stand I got so hopeful you were going to answer my real which was will the previous Gen11 COVER fit the Gen 12.
PLEASE cover that question in future Gen comparison.

Yello touch: I like it more than the color of my old 11. gen Paperwhite, it is more like a real pocket book. In direct comparison, my 11.gen is more red tinted and i don´t like it. I see it only if i compare it directly. Maybe it was only my old Paperwhite, but for me it is a small game changer. It feels good ;) On the first day with my 12.gen Paperwhite, i switched the kindle after some pages reading... the overall experience on the newer generation feels much better. For me, the new Paperwhite is a good upgrade. The only problem is the pricing. I wish a big company like Amazon would offer the devices cheaper than the smaller companies (kobo or tolino in germany).
