CHEAP & FUN RC Plane ACTUALLY WORTH THE $$ - Sky Surfer X8 1480mm RC Airplane - TheRcSaylors

At the time of releasing this video, this rc plane is on sale for $70 (click USA warehouse). Because of that, we have to recommend it just because the price compared to the performance is definitely worth it. We have never seen an rc PNP airplane this big with the electronics (except receiver, transmitter, and battery) for this cheap! What an awesome deal. Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

Prop Update: I flew this again after this video and switched the prop direction again and it flew MUCH Better than what we showed in this video. Apparently I had it correct the first time, when I launched it into the ground. I just didn't have enough throttle and elevator on that initial launch. I don't believe this needs a more efficient prop as I discussed in this video. In fact, this thing flies amazingly well and sounds much better with the prop on the correct way. I overheated my ESC in this video, but didn't damage it permanently. The pulsing we heard was the ESC telling me to lay off for a minute so it could cool off. Pusher prop planes are amazing, that they can fly with the prop on either way. Be sure to test yours with a strong throttle blast before taking off. If it's not pushing very hard, unplug your flight battery, reverse that prop and try the other way. This plane is 100% a steal at that price, and even around $100 or so is an amazing price in our opinions! Happy Flying!

Bought one of these a while back for $59 but it shipped from China. Two months and a completely demolished box later I got it and was still able to put it together. Flies awesome and it’s definitely awesome that it’s shipping out of the US.

Props are always installed (Pusher or puller) with the curved side facing the direction the plane is to go. You cannot get it wrong. ;-)

Got mine in six days. Great value for the price.. The box was beat in and the parts bag was open, but the missing control horns are an easy problem to remedy. The canopy glue for the magnets had spread and I had to cut them apart and re-clue them in place. All just nuisance issues.

Thanks for the video. I had to laugh (with you I hope) about pusher prop direction. A great lesson on doing ALL pre-flight checks. Also, check the servo installation on the ailerons. One of mine came off 30 seconds into my first flight. I got lucky and only minor crack in wing. All components have now been secured and fixed as needed. Hope to take it out again next weekend. I still think this is a great value for the price.

with a pusher or puller prop, the numbers always go towards the front, or on top if its on a quad

Always numbers (prop specs) facing forward, regardless of motor position 🙂 So a pusher configuration has the prop numbers facing the motor and a tractor config has the numbers facing away from the motor.

A powered glider usually is propped with a high pitch to give the best climb rate, you get up high, cut the motor and look for thermals.

Most props have numbers/letters printed on them, the numbers/letters need to face the direction of travel ( front of the plane ) .

I've got one and really like it. The prop is altogether wrong. It's like putting a right quad prop on a left hand motor and turning the prop upside down to compensate. I'm running a 3 blade 3"X42 pitch on mine. It's not a power house plane but I really like it.

Ah the sky surfer! I had a much earlier version of this plane as a third plane. That version was nothing but lift and lightness. It handled so well that I ended up pushing it to destruction due to how easy it was to fly. Fond memories

Simple check with any prop, stand in front make sure it's rotating anti-clockwise and look at the tip the curve should also be facing anti-clockwise. Doesn't matter if it's a pusher or tractor prop.
