The Judge from Blood Meridian is such a great character. I hope Denis Villineuve has read that book, and got his inspiration from there.

3:52 The Sardaukar are not Harkonnen`s army. They are the army branch of the House Corrino, the current Ruling Emperor`s house, who lent them to the Harkonnen to aid in their plot to destroy the Atreides.

Excellent video. I agree, Villeneuve's baron is the best character

If I remember correctly the baron's world is heavily industrialized, the black fluid he's bathing in could be symbol of his world's mainly-heavy-industries economy and overall polluted hellscape setting.

Very thought provoking. I wonder though at the danger of giving evil such a defined appearance - what he looks like physically is basically a manifestation of his greed and gluttony. But in your opinion do you think this is how the modern day villain would look? These days, the greedy ones are sleek and refined because they dine on foods made to prolong their lives as long as possible. And contrasting that you have poor people who can't afford healthy food and therefore resort to fats amd sugars, resulting in obesity. The modern day food industry is only one of the systems enabling this greed. There's many other examples. My point is, the acting was brilliant but the physical depiction of evil didn't speak to me. In my opinion, evil today would look like perfection...? 🤔
