Follow us, a family swimming upstream and challenging the status quo by being self employed through doTERRA essential oils and building a homestead in Texas. We post a lot of stuff to both our blog and our other social media channels that you might not see on YouTube, so be sure to follow us there as well.

SHOW NOTES:

Better Together Life means that our family is better when we are all together. Which is a good thing because we have a lot of kids. But it is our mission to create entertaining and inspiring stories for people like us who want to do what we do.

So awesome to see how far you guys have come! On the chickens, the hens will fight like that, it’s just them establishing a pecking order just wait till crowing starts and throw a zip tie on the leg of the ones you know for sure are roosters till you’re ready to “graduate” them.

My 20 month absolutely loves your rabbit videos. He stands in front of the tv and watches the whole thing!

They need an area to dust bathe to prevent mites. Last year we had so much rain for so long in Houston that my hens couldn't find any dry sand or dirt to bathe in. Their feet started cracking and bleeding from mites. It was so horrible!! I got a huge bin and filled it with sand and DE, put it in the coop, and it did the job thankfully! (This comment was prompted by your sand)

I've got quail. Well i catch their poo in Rubbermaid tubs. During the spring summer and fall i get a crazy amount of black soldier fly larva in the quail poo. It's awesome to expand their diet and make their food last longer. And win win the larva break down the poo really really fast.

My hens fight more than my roosters. The rooster helps break them up. They are just establishing a pecking order. "hen pecked" lol I put the 2x4 field fence on the bottom of one of my colony kennels, they can dig down about 2 inches then stop. The does will continue to dig around until they find somewhere the can get deeper.

I love your cover crop. I think the tall grass may be oats? You are going to have great soil and soil conservation. Your fighting chickens or roosters are very nice. Poor bunnies need some more room. Everything is looking good.

Give that dew berry vine, by the mulberry, something to climb up, and you'll have lots of yummy berries!

You should keep the white bunny to breed color into him!

Can you please make a night time video ? I'm in the process of retiring and moving to Texas off the grid but I'm wondering how I can deal in total darkness in the woods, thank you very much for your time and God bless you.

I am so not an expert on rabbits but shouldn't they have more room to move around? Just seems to me that it's very cramped. Just asking.

What is the significance of the fence? Why not just let the chickens roam? Don't they come home every night?

If you don't put a board in there to stand on their feet will get ruined.
