I like his technique with negotiation. Did this to my boss. I am the shift leader as the registered nurse at night and had staff under me. I asked him if he ever had concerns on the night shift. He said no. He said he doesnt know how the night shift work but he knows it does and that the staff are doing a great job. I then told him that my annual assessment is late and that I feel under appreciated in my role and how I have received better offers. It actually worked. Thanks Jordan!

I'm a highly disagreeable female and unfortunately this trait in considered very unattractive by most people on a female specifically. I find interacting with sensitive people to be very difficult in the workplace in particular. I've learnt how to interact with these people, but I hate it. I like being very blunt and direct with people and I like people to act that way back with me. I don't like cautious language that takes feelings into account at all. I would agree that the reason most women don't make more than they do is not because of discrimination but because they simply don't ask for more money.

I said I needed a raise. They said sure, they will review. I waited 6 months, no movement. I kept following up and wanted updates often. In the meantime I got myself a new job fairly quickly. They then offered me close to a 40% increase and a salary higher than the one at my new job and quite higher than what I had originally asked. I said sorry, too late. Everyone was so surprised. I still don't get how this sequence of events was surprising but it might have to do with apparent agreeableness of a woman.
