My mom is the exact opposite:
I was just talking about a TikTok about ADHD which I found funny, and she said "You don't have ADHD cause I have ADHD."
I'm not even diagnosed.
We don't even know.

Edit: Just because you have symptoms of a mental disorder, it doesn't mean other people with the disorder have the exact same symptoms. (Not saying I have ADHD, I'm waiting to see if I can get tested.)

I have dyslexia. Got told by my mom that I have it cuz she has it. I didn't learn to read until the 7th grade, and it still gives me headaches trying to read so I stick closely to audio books. The only reason I spell well is because I was self conscious, which worsened when a science teacher called me out loudly Infront of my hole class during a test because instead of writing H20, I had written 02H with the 2 upside down and the H sideways. My already present bullying problem got worse from there, and I went to the extreme of becoming a Grammer Nazi to make up for it. My mom never helped me out with it, nore did she get me diagnosed so that the school would help me. Instead saying, "I figured it out, you will too." And "when I was in school they didn't even have a name for dyslexia. You got thrown into the retard class to rot. I've done you a favor."

But she wasn't worried about my sister getting thrown in the "retard class" when she got her an IEP for being deaf. Was so proud of how fast she learned, when it was me doing her homework so she wouldn't fail at school like I was doing. Or getting my other sister into a class to help with her speech impediment. And being so proud that she progressed quicker than normal while forgetting that I was the one helping her practice her R's, s's, it's, z's, and the other six she had trouble with.

The epitome of I struggled so they didn't have to.

My whole life I just memorized basic words. I even won awards for spelling but honestly I never read words like I read words in my personal journal.

Same with my autism. I'm not diagnosed but I show almost all the symptoms and autism is very common in our family so it's safe to say I have autism.

I was honors too and I also failed all spelling tests. I got caught cheating on one in the 10th grade. I wasn’t really a habitual cheater…I just got sick of failing these damn spelling tests, it was part of English. Nobody ever questioned if there was something wrong with me though. I doubt they’d be able to do anything about it anyway.

I have dyslexia and I actually had the same thing. my class was actually given different spelling test because I had failed three of them and my teacher wanted to make it easier for everyone and not just me so I won’t feel left out😊
