I couldn't read until 3rd grade so I understand, now I'm writing books and am currently one of the top readers at my school 1286 so far

For me it was the opposite: while every other student had to read the words out slowly, I read them out as if I was just regular talking. And as a kid, I was practically rapping. So the teacher had to send me out every reading lesson, either to a older class, or to a teacher who was currently available, and we would read magazines together, difficult teenager magazines. I read all the Harry Potter books within two months and school, yet I barely actually read a book now, I'm like a retired bookworm

I remember being in a reading class from first grade? Maybe? But I remember my mom getting pissed off at the teacher and getting me out in fourth, I'm still a slow reader.. so there's that. But at the same time I was also in speech therapy because I have a lisp, still do, the whole "don't put your tongue against your teeth" thing with my S's and Z's is uncomfortable for me, so I didn't.. sorry Mrs. Gray

As someone who has speech problems, I can confirm this is true. I had speech therapy outside school(weekends) and inside school.

I had to do the special needs class too. We had to read about service dogs, wolfs, ect it was basic paragraphs but we got to go outside for a five minute break after so all worth it

I took advantage from speech and I still am game time, skipping science for speech, VIP access to signing up for special fun classes during colt time which is a replacement for recess in my middle school.
