Moving out at 18 was one of the toughest things I've had to do. I had to learn how to save money with low income, I had to learn about high paying jobs outside of college. how to budget, how to save...etc.

I want to go over the valuable life lessons I learned in the process of moving out, getting through college, and never returning home to my parents after.

Independence is great, but are you able to deal with the price of independence? Find out in this video.

I’m 22, and I love my parents, I appreciate the housing, but I am so miserable because I’m not being stimulated. I want to grow, to learn what it means to fend for myself without having a backup. I feel stale, like a dull knife. I know my parents work hard for me to live comfortably, but comfort doesn’t build strong people.

I felt imprisoned when I was at that age, not only by my home life, but by high school as well. They were
I loved college! College was a safe haven.

I’m 21 and sick of feeling like I’m always in the wrong despite working a job while enrolled in college and giving my mom
Money to help pay HER rent. I did it Bc we’re family and Ik she’s a single mom but it just sucked when I hit the lowest point in my life and she treated me like a lazy slob. I have a job but it’s not cutting it, so I’m getting a second job nightshift at a warehouse to save up and get the hell on. Ik it won’t be easy having no support but some people my age have kids and are making it work so I’m not doubting myself any longer. It’s happening. Thankful for the tips and advice!

Almost 18, sick of this unsupportive environment. Life starts now, fresh slate. Here we go.

Loved hearing your story. I moved out at 18 and never looked back. Love my family but needed the space!

Appreciate your honesty. I just recently moved into my own apartment by myself. It's truly surreal and I'm doing my best to build confidence and never look back. Life is insane. I have no family at all either, it's literally just me and I have to make this work.

Im really determined to move out at 18 this September, I already have a budget and work plans and spaces. It will be a lot of responsibility to take on so quickly, but I want my own life.

Im planning to move out by the end of the year. Despite how my family will feel about it, i need to focus on my feelings. Im tired of being under their rules and way of life. I love them but i also love my happiness and mental health. I hope all goes well for everyone else in this same journey!! I turn 18 on September 18th so this is a special year! Im going to take control of my happiness :)

Words cannot describe how much I love and appreciate you for this video as a male, as a Black American male. I am also in college but community and am ready to leave. I am ready to live and I want to move out. I'm ready and so hyped. I never been away from mom. It's time it really is and I love it. Subbed!!!

Reggie, Your video has helped me understand the behavior of my son better. He moved out a few months ago at the age of 18. So many things we warned him about he is learning the hard way. As a Mom, it is painful to watch and not try to help fix it but his Dad has helped me understand that our son needs and wants to figure it out himself. Thank you for your words of wisdom to younger people. Now here is some advice from an older generation, If a person hasn’t had children yet, especially grown children, they probably won’t understand the importance of this. If you’re not already, Set aside a few minutes to call your parents at least once a week and tell them about what’s going in your life. It will mean alot to them.❤️😊🤗

Thanks for the inspiring video I’m trying to prove my independence to my parents now that I am going to college. But I still feel like no matter how hard I try I can’t gain that independence while still living with my parents.
