My husband has this Wet AMD. It's terrible having injections in the eye. We still in it. The right eye is almost lost & the doctor is battling to save the left eye. We're praying for the medication to work so that he doesn't go blind completely. Thank you so much Dr for this useful information.

It’s crazy no one here is talking about “the hidden herbs” by Anette Ray…

My mother was diagnosed with macular degeneration at 64. She is 65 now and doing well, but this video is great. I will definitely be showing her this. Thank you!😌

I have Wet AMD in both eyes. The left eye has advanced and I have vision loss. Ocular injections seem to be helping my right eye be more stable and have slowed the vision loss on the left. My job has me working on screens 10 hours or more a day. I don't drive any longer if I have any errands to run farther than 10 minutes from my house. I do have distorted vision and I can't recognize faces readily anymore when people are walking toward me. I am also an artist so this has been terrifying for me but I am adapting well. The upside is that I have been predominately on the Mediterranean diet for many years - with the exception of eliminating gluten due to a sensitivity and avoiding all soy due to an allergy - so it could be much worse - and my doctor has me on AREDS 2. Losing the vision and living alone have been challenging but I am coping relatively well. This is something I never expected in my early 50s, but I am not going to let it stop me.

I’m 62 and I was recently (two months ago) diagnosed with dry macular degeneration. They found drusen in both eyes that wasn’t there five years ago. They say I’m between the beginning and intermediate stages.

My father, aunt and grandmother all have/had macular degeneration. My father and aunt started off with dry and now have wet macular degeneration.

I caught your video on red light therapy and I will asking my eye doctor about it. I’ve been taking areds for the past couple of years intermittently. Now I’m taking it religiously.

Excellent and I have a medical background and found this to be a very detailed and thorough but simple enough to understand and I appreciate your honesty and humility and continuing passion to learn.

Rcently diagnosed with dry MD and the beginning of a cataract so I was terrified because my doctor was so terrible at presenting the news, prognosis or treatment. For years I've had a very healthy lifestyle, took lots supplements and even those eye ones in the past, Mediterranean diet, exercise, meditate etc ... BUT I have had extreme stress in my life and I hate sunglasses and look at phone and computer screens a lot for work and leisure and as a traveling photographer doing many edits.

Those are the only two factors I suspect contributing to it and it makes sense to me so I would advise everyone to be cautious (and blue screen light is bad for you anyway and we'll keep you awake at night). And I've also learned from Dr Andrew Huberman, a neuroscientist and eye specialist, not to have your eyes so centrally focused so much but to use the peripheral vision a lot more and exercise all parts of the eye throughout the day.

How odd, I’ve been plant based for 6 years, I’m 66yo, just recently added CrossFit to my daily 4mi trail run, decided to add fatty fish (sardines and salmon) and fish oil epa/dha supplements to my diet for brain health (and extra protein to fight off sarcopenia) .. seems I should have known what’s good for the brain is good for the eye. Better to be lucky than right.

One great and easy exercise that almost eceryone can do is the "soleus pushup". Just sit in a chair with you feet on the ground and lift your heels, while keeping you toes on the floor, lower you heels and repeat. The best thing is that the soleus muscle don't fatigue so this exercise can be done for hours so it's perfect for people that sits a lot at work, and don't have time to go for walks.

I'm 87 years old and 8 years ago I had DMD and began taking 2 Vitalux tabs per day. Two years ago it went to WMD since then I've started with injections every 4 weeks, and then I was given a new injection recently developed, and eventually progressed to 6 then 8 and now it is every 10 weeks. The new one is vabysmo, I am thankful for increasing medication work. Thank you for your blogs.

Thank you for not browbeating smokers. So many health professionals relish doing that. I finally was able to quit 9 years ago, after 40 years of a pack+ a day, by using variable strength vapes and titrating down to zero nicotine after which I just stopped vaping. It took over a year but it was the only method that ever worked for me, including patches, gum, drugs and even lasers and hypnosis.

Yes, it runs in my family. My older brother had it. He died before he went blonde though he had a heart attack. He was 72. I’m 70 years old. They just diagnosed me with this. I’ve been eating all the foods that are supposedly best for it. I’m watching this video now to see what else we can do. They’ve been giving me shots now and eyes for about four months cataract surgery my eyes are stable. that should help at least my current vision because I’m always happy to use more light. Thank you for this video. Thank you for caring about people and being a caring person. God bless you.

Wow thank you! I got so excited when I saw this video and found it very helpful. My grandma, who is now 85, suffers with terrible dry Age Related Macular Degeneration. It took her ability to drive early, has ruined her central vision and gotten her declared legally blind. Since I am in my 30’s and my vision is already terrible (very near sided, astigmatism and dry eye), I need to start being proactive. Thank you thank you!!!!

Macular degeneration didn't exist much before 1900. It was the addition of processed "seed" oils to our diet that is the foundation for macular degeneration. Macular degeneration increased at the same trajectory as the increase of macular degeneration over the last 100 years. Now we look at it as "common". Any amount of seed oil is toxic to the body. You will find out how bad the situation is when you seek to eliminate this from your diet. It is in almost everything!
