Medusa is quite possibly one of the most famous monsters in the mythological world. You've almost certainly heard of her, seen her referenced in some movie or TV show, but what is the real story behind the snake-haired woman? Grab your sword and shield, and try not to make eye contact, because today, we're digging into the legend of Medusa.

Medusa has and will always be one of the most iconic beings in Greek Mythology. One will never mistake her visage for anything else.

I've always been intrigued by the Medusa mythology. I personally tend to believe that the version of Medusa being assaulted by Posiden is most plausible. Looking at the mythology back then, it was a pretty rampant thing back then. My favorite take is from a book series the SPI Files by Lisa Shearin. It's called the Gorgan Agenda.

I always found Medusa's story to be quite tragic depending on the version you follow. Whether she was assaulted by Poseidon or born a monster, it is still tragic that she would have to be slain buy a hero without ever having her own tale resolved.😢

Medusa is one of my favorite monsters.
One of my favorite versions of the character is the one from Kid Icarus Uprising where she's the Goddess of Darkness and Palutena (KI's version of Athina) turned her into a Gorgon and banished her to the Underworld. It's the only version I've seen where she's attractive in her human snake form.
I love the idea of Medusa being hideous as just a myth created to scare people, instead she's an otherworldly woman so beautiful that it's too much for human comprehension, turning her sighted victims to stone. She owns her curse as a form of protection but trains herself into being a vicious fighter so no man would lay their hands on her again.

I read Olympian gods usually disguised themselves as creatures or inanimate stuff in graping women.
Maybe turning Medusa into turning anything alive into stone is meant to stop Poseidon assaults

There is a movie from the early 1970's on Medusa, she apparently had a daughter named manda that I was named after, I have searched for this old movie but can't find it, my mother died before telling me about the ending, would really wish to see it
