What?! Well, your choice I guess. But with Elden Ring out and Astrologer being a popular choice, here's some starting tricks to make you much stronger in the first hour of the game.
Also ignore when I say items/words wrong. I just don't know how to read, ok?!

SOME UPDATES READ THIS!!!
- The IMP HAT HAS BEEN NERFED down to 2 int. It's still worth getting early on, but maybe not farm as it's a long farm.
- Some people have noted the Brass Shield takes a bunch of strength. It does, however there are other options. In the northern area before the bridge with pumpkin head is a camp with the Heater Shield, I'd suggest this instead. There's also a Blue Kite(?) Shield sold by the merchant in the southish east part of the first area. I'd suggest checking the wiki for 100 physical block shields that meet your playstyle:
- You can technically get to the Meteorite Staff a little faster by using a secret warp early on. I am not going to spoil this because the experience of me going "what the hell?!" when I found it was priceless, however it's very easy to look up for yourself should you wish to try that instead.
- The class is ASTROLOGER not ASTRONOMER. I say this wrong more often than I'd care to admit. Whoopsy

As soon as you get to the open world if you go east for about 100 feet, there is a chest that will Teleport you almost exactly where that 1st staff is you got, so you don't have to ride all the way there. Alot faster

If you don't want to grind the shield there is a tower in the south right beside the "Castle Morne Rampart" waypoint. Find the whirlwind beside it and launch on top of the tower to get the "Great Turtle Shell" it has 100% Armour and 2-less strength cost.

I've been learning the game bit by bit and playing all the classes before locking in one for 100+ hours and had reduced it to Astrologer and Samurai, your concise info on how to jumpstart an Astrologer's world into the stratosphere has locked me in on Astrologer FTW. That means I get to play with the character creation zone, wasn't expecting it to be so flexible in allowing me to create alien, bizarre characters that fit into this surreal realm.

super pro tip #2: Put your staff in your left hand, use Determination Ashes of war with your right hand weapon (L2) this will BUFF Your spells for about 8 or 9 seconds as long as you dont' swing your main hand weapon! Super powerful with Rock Sling and Meteorite staff I'm only level 47 but crushing bosses like grapes!
