You often don't fall forwards because the tank is still well within range. Either hooking you or hitting tank hard rolling forward. The forward side roll works because he tilts the tank off the boat first. You can also fall backwards if you lose balance. Facing backwards you have better footing.

I remember one entry I made thanks to mate cleaning the walkway around the wheelhouse. Had to leave to set up the bow, that walkway was so slick I was gone into the sea and the boat was doing 10 knots. Obviously they came back for me, it would have been a long swim from the Bahamas!
