OnePlus Open | Unboxing & 1 Week Review

Unboxing the OnePlus Open with a one-week review of the camera, battery life, performance and beyond. This is my new favourite foldable phone thanks to the slick software and that OnePlus Open hardware. It's not as skinny as the Honor Magic V2 but it matches or beats the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 in almost every area.

First up, this is some of the best camera tech on any bendy smartphone in 2023. The OnePlus Open shows only slight saturation in brighter conditions and can cope with HDR issues, while the night photography is also decent. Video capture and telephoto shooting both get a thumbs up too.

The OnePlus Open is also one of the best foldable phones for battery life. This thing can last you all day even with quite a bit of camera action, and performance is good enough for gaming. But hey, it's the OxygenOS software that really sells this smartphone. The OnePlus Open has a nifty Canvas design which allows you to effortlessly flick between three separate apps on that bright and punchy internal display. I'm on the Z Fold 5 and that multitasking software is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. It just makes sense. Wow

The phoine looks really nice and I can spot some differences with my Fold5, but what I REALLY liked the most was the wallpaper, I need that one.

I waited 5 generations to bite on the Samsung Fold 5. Had it for a touch over 2 months now & I really like it. My only major complaint is the slim front screen. It is annoying to type on sometimes. Also, wish the S pen would go IN the phone & was usable on BOTH the outer & inner displays.

I would be real tempted by the Honor Magic V2 because it is so thin when folded & the larger outer display.

Great review! I've never really been a big fan of foldable smartphones, but I'm starting to see some benefits now. The only drawback for me at this stage is the dimensions, I mean the thickness when folded. I hope they can figure out how to strip off the thickness a bit. Otherwise, I think a foldable phone is an interesting option.

Looks perfect! Only one thing tho... I don't like that when watching something on the internal screen the video is not shown on the whole screen, but it is cropped...
