iRacing's New Dirt Track Racing Preview by The Simpit

This new content opens the door to a new genre of racing to the already packed sim. This new release that comes out later today offers 3 different half mile dirt tracks to choose from. The new tracks are Eldora, Volusia and Williams Grove each of which have been pillars of the dirt track racing scene of America. And then to drive on these track we have 2 new car models each coming in 3 variations. The late model and the Sprint car both straight over from World of Outlaws. In this video we show off the new content and get acquainted with dirt for the first time in iRacing.

I liked how that spin looked with the Outlaws car. Seemed like they got the physics right the way the rear tire seemed to dig in with the weight transfer.

I have been involved in motor sports since 1963 when I won a contest with the prize being a ride along with Ray Hendricks at our local dirt track. When they picked me out of the window and put me on the ground the announcer asked me what i thought, my answer was "This is what I want to do my whole life." At 8 years old my parents and everybody else thought that would be over in a week. By early summer I had talked my father into looking at a used, home made kart. It was real rough with dirty, rusted bearings, dried out tires and NO MOTOR! For tires I went to the town's tractor dealer and asked him if I could have some of his old tires when someone brought a field hand truck or tires that size.He said yes and come back in a few days. My father went to pick up the tires and came home with 11 used but still good tires . I was so excited " we have almost 3 sets of tires"!!! My father went to the back to the car and came out with a 12th tire. IT WAS A BRAND NEW TIRE! It had writing on it in tire chalk " Save this one for your 1st race good luck from Brunswick tractor." This is running long so I'll just say that 8 year old boy is now a 65 year old man who feels the same way I felt back at that dirt track in 1963. So now I am looking at sim racing.

I would really like to see rallycross in iRacing now. Not a big fan of ovals but I love rally and rallycross.

I actually think Indianapolis Motor Speedway is the heart and soul of American racing because being built in 1909, no other paved oval speedway in America can make its claim that it is over 100 years old and still going strong.

Since I'm completely unfamiliar with dirt racing, and no free tracks are apparently available, which of three should I buy first?

now if iracing can do a TransAM series, classic to modern. 69' camaro, 71' mustang and 71' cuda. then jump to late 80's early 90's. to current TransAM series then ill be in heaven

The sound seems to have been updated for these cars because it's way more dynamic than some models and doesn't pitch up to where it's fake sounding and gamey.

Great video, Shaun! I noticed that you typically lift a bit going into the corners but don't brake, whereas I've seen other drivers indicate the proper technique is to drag the brake into the corners while letting off the throttle as little as possible - is this just a difference in preference/technique, or are there appreciable differences between the two approaches?

hello i have asked other no one seems to answer, , i would love to get in to this cause do to racing injury my leg n feet dont work correctly, , do these sim games with steering n peddles do they have hand or thumb control that gets rid of the peddle set up, , thank you

I'd rather see a Dirt Modified, but I know we're still early
