Since there are some who seem to not understand, this will specifically help with iRacing. Concepts still apply to real life, but loosely. Real life cars have far more complex mechanics and balance. Don't take it as gospel.

As a former dirt track race you NEVER tail whip your car. It disrupsts the suspension and bite. You use steering and throttle to enter and exit a corner percisely.

can somebody link the video where he explains the cars, I can't find it lol

Great video, a lot of good tips! I'd like to clarify something though because I'm not seeing really anyone else mention it. The way you talk about setting the car is not the same as a Scandinavian Flick. I think a better way to talk about it is "pitching the car in". The Scandi Flick results in a similar effect to setting the car, of getting it sideways, but is totally different in approach. A real Scandi Flick involves turning the car away from the corner very quickly, and then snapping the wheel back towards the corner to turn it in before counter steering to hold the slide. This method is used to very quickly rotate the rear of the car as it puts a lot of weight transfer energy into the car. This method can work in dirt oval in the experience that I have, but the cars are not set up to drive this way.

If the the track is solid rubbed tacky the drive is almost like on pavement, no sideways needed for speed.

I've been running super late models for 30 years setting the car is correct, the problem in real life is most people panic and can't set the car it's had when you are going a 100 plus MPH and have to intentionally cause the car to go sideways

Picked video because I was interested in something post season. The video content is true to real life. Thing is you don't get to choose what the track is like when you unload the car. Dry slick is a challenge. I hear the rubber just screeching off my tires. I shredded mine in the last race of the year (why not, ya know). I might try this sim out. It doesn't look like this has ruts in it. A real pucker factor is hitting a rut at speed in a turn.

Good job...in a late model use of the top is vital just as much as the bottom groove.

how about a guide to how to run a lane for beginners. I am finally getting a handle on the driving part....but hit cars way to often. :(
