It always helps to have good in-laws but if they’re not its your mans responsibility to put up boundaries and make sure his family respects you

This is a great topic and for someone who is married with sucky in-laws, DO NOT DO IT. I do agree it's the guys responsibility to check his mother/in laws but then it just makes things strange. Now I just love from a distance and say hi but no real conversation.. Knowing someone's family background is absolutely key, and don't settle.

Bad in-laws definitely make an impact. The first day I was officially introduced to his family was on Christmas Day. His family immediately starting talking about his ex and what occurred when he introduced her for the first time. It did not stop there…..EVERYTIME I was around his family, they would immediately start to talk about his past relationship. I tried to ignore the constant bringing up of his ex and their relationship by his family, but he never accepted that it was his responsibility to correct that behavior. It was just tip of the iceberg with them taking steps to make me feel uncomfortable. I eventually stopped visiting his family. I do not know what there motivation was and frankly at this point I do not care. I tried to be kind and cordial, but when people show you who they are, BELIEVE THEM!

I remember my inlaws were so negative towards me. Some even made up lies on me and threatened me. This is why we broke up before. It was until he stood up for me and I was like okay. It's me and him and that's all that matters. Some eventually came around. Some can jump off the nearest bridge
