So according to this guy, being a collector is only one of two things:
1. Acquiring things to sell later for a higher price.
2. Being OCD.

I collect because I like it.

I admit, I do not buy comics for financial advancement. I just read my favorite comics because I enjoy them. I keep my comics in good condition but more times than not I buy the trades or graphic novels. As they are always on sale and I don't mind reading stories months or even years later than the latest as they hit the stores.

I owned multiple stores, customers like AJ drove me crazy. I had one guy where I'd have a hundred of an issue on the shelves and none were good enough, he'd want me to order more. It's those guys that makes me happy I got out into the land of normal people.

He said he doesn't have time to read 'em, but if he does, they won't be in the pristine condition he requires them to be in. Hey, you oughta see what the mailman does to my magazines by shoving them FOLDED into the mail box!

This guy would hate my comics then, I look after them enough by my standards and sometimes you just gotta take me how it is.

i collected in the early 90's comic boom....as did everyone else. SPAWN #1? worthless.
Death of Superman? worthless.

its the classics and the real vintage stuff that will be worth most....everyone keeps everything now, and thus nothing is truly rare, aside from the odd variants or recalls.

I collect comic books and still go through the motion of placing them in plastic and in boxes but I just like reading them. Very few comics you buy today have any real after market value that would require you to make sure your comic is in mind condition like that. This guy is stuck in the mentality of the pre comic book crash where back issues had resale value (and it was a bubble back then that burst).
