BEST BUDGET COLD AIR INTAKE INSTALL! E46 BMW 3 SERIES!

What's going on guys! Welcome back for another video, thank you for clicking and taking the time to watch it. This intake actually impressed me quite a bit. i wasn't sure what to expect considering when I made the purchase it only had a few reviews and It was being sold on Amazon. You can almost notice as I begin making progress in the install video I appreciate the build quality and Intake more and more. By the next day driving around town, my Heat soak from my previous set up with the old filter just sitting there exposed, was completely gone! I mean a 90 Degree day driving for 30 minutes and Still felt considerable performance from my engine. The day I Sold my Carbon Cold Air snorkel and Installed that old filter onto my intake tube I could tell a major difference in performance once I spent some time in traffic driving the car etc. That heat shield and insulation on this new set up has 100% contributed to what I think is an increase in performance from the reduction in intake temps.

You gotta get that front air scoop your missing from the cars intake, im surprise you been driving without it. Makes a large difference .

I’m almost certain you’d want the heat tape on the opposite side of the metal housing to reflect heat, with it on the side with the filter it would likely magnify the heat entering the intake housing instead of bounce it off same with that filter cover you’d want it where you could see the tape and not by the filter.

This is a great intake, I bought one probably almost two ago for my ZHP. Well thought out and comes with everything you need, a complete kit for a fraction of the price of the big brands.

yeah the heat shielding should be on the other side, get some shielding for the metal intake pipe connected to your pod filter as well or just change it to a silicone pipe

What I can say is according to intake temp live data my cold air kit (AFE magnum) at speed is reading the same temps as the stock air box. At idle it is within a degree or two warmer. The cold air kit has arguably more “volume” and can flow more air because of the larger filter, not sure that matters on a non forced induction car. But what a cold air kit does do better than the stock air box is sound amazing.

These will not increase power, but the sound is worth it in my humble opinion.

Ima get a new scoop when I install my intake & lay down heat shield gold tape to my radiator reserve & My coolant hoses so I can minimize the heat that is persisting into my cold air intake, Aswell as a shield hopefully I can either custom craft one from fiber glass & Heat shield tape or buy one online

Why would you remove the stock intake that receives ambient air and replace it with something that draws hot air from the engine bay?

I thought the stock intake will increase static pressure of air inside the box at speed due to fact that the air inlet at around highest stagnant point..how can we compare the performance of both type intake at speed ..most are testing it at static where stock intake is obviously l restricted

Put that shield for the air filter underneath the filter to help prevent any water intake 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

Moving the risk of hydra lock from rain water to cooling system when that plastic radiator, expansion tank and/or expansion tank connector crack and sprays boiling water into your intake :D
Don't get me wrong I like this a lot, I would get this right now if german plastics meme wasn't a thing and I wasn't so scarred by it
