I Oil-Pulled For 30 Days! Here’s What Happened #oralhealth

I wish I found oil-pulling aaaaages ago!! 😩

Oil pulling utilizes coconut oil and essential oils l, such as spearmint, to help pull out the bacteria from the mouth to reduce plaque and gingivitis! Did you know that plaque turns into tartar if it stays on the teeth for too long?!

I found that out after freaking out thinking I chipped my tooth in this process, but later realized it was calcified tartar! 😂

Anyways, let’s breakdown the experience:

THE EXPERIENCE:
The only thing that was hard was swishing the oil around my mouth for 10 minutes and not accidentally locking my teeth and jaws together in a super tight manner, where my jaw would feel tired from all the swishing. I immediately noticed a difference on day one. My mouth felt moisturized and didn’t smell like I ate out of a garbage can throughout the day! My gums also seemed less inflamed and my tooth sensitivity was gone! As I continued the treatment, the results stayed consistent and my teeth were naturally getting brighter!

HOW IT COMPARES TO MOUTHWASH:
Although they are both meant to resolve the same issues, I found that mouthwash only masked the symptoms and worked best while you were using it. However if you stopped, it would all come back. With oil-pulling I could skip a few days and continue to not experience the bad breath and dry mouth!

IMPORTANT SIDE NOTE:
Many mouthwashes have alcohols and ingredients that promote cleaning of your teeth and gums. However, alcohol acts as an astringent and can cause further dryness in the mouth. As for the cleaning agents, some can be too harsh even though it’s used in small quantities in the mouthwash formulation, which also has the potential to aggravate dry mouth, bad breath, and tooth sensitivity. Read your labels with the mouthwashes or just skip it all and switch to oil-pulling!

Share this with someone who would benefit from oil pulling!

Oil pulling with Coconut oil helped reverse my cavities as well kill bad breath and whiten my teeth. The key is consistency ❤

I have terrible teeth because I’m a depressed sugar addict but my teeth were starting to give me trouble and pain so I went to the dentist and unsurprisingly I need thousands of dollars worth of dental work and I can’t even afford the cheapest procedure as a broke college student so I stumbled across oil pulling as a temporary solution to help manage til I can afford my dental work and do the same routine floss, oil pull, brush i’ve been doing this since Oct and the abscess in my mouth is so much smaller it’s unnoticeable (not gone! I still need to go back to the dentist) and my inflamed painful wisdom tooth is no longer inflamed and painful and my remaining healthy teeth look great. THIS IS NOT A CURE IT IS A BANDAID I WILL STILL BE GOING TO GET MY ROOT CANAL, FILLINGS AND WISDOM TOOTH REMOVED ASAP! But I will also keep oil pulling in my routine for as long as I have teeth in my mouth! 😅😂❤

Mouthwash kills good bacteria and dries out your mouth, which, ironically, makes your teeth more prone to cavities. The best thing for your teeth is saliva - saliva contains many minerals, enzymes and good bacteria. It coats enamel and is even able to slightly remineralize it. Mouthwash it the worst thing you can use. Oil pulling is great for gums and is also mild towards teeth plus it stimulates your glands to produce saliva.

Appreciate the review. She said she flossed first, oil pulled, then brushed her teeth. Genuine question: after spitting the oil out is everyone swishing with water before brushing? Or are some people going right to brushing with residual oil still in the mouth? Also where would an oral irrigator (Waterpik) fit into this routine? Heeelllppp 😪

Rinse, floss, brush, waterpik, oil pulling. Don’t want to be spitting the oil down your drain.
Over time it will get clogged.

You didn't mention oil pulling should be done before brushing, although that's what you did, Dr Ellie Phillips DDS recommends using xylitol to remove plaque, I added xylitol to my oil.

I’ve heard that you’re supposed to wait 30 mins after oil pulling before you brush your teeth because of the effect it temporarily has on enamel, a dentist told me that. I started oil pulling about a month ago or more, because I just had a bunch of root canals and crowns placed and the swelling on one side of my mouth just would Not go down even 2 months after the work was done on my mouth. Within 1 week of oil pulling the pain reduced greatly, and within 2.5 weeks the swelling had visibly reduced, and now my mouth doesn’t hurt at all!
