Babylon was awesome. Only the casuals on Rotten Tomatoes were divided. Peep the Letterboxd rating to hear from people who actually know a thing or two about cinema.

Babylon proves how stupid Rotten Tomatoes critics are. It's not everyone's cup of tea but it definitely is not that polarizing. The story is a masterpiece and an emotional one that takes you into a time period in an honest way where they don't remove any of the excess or chaos. It's almost repulsive to see them in old Hollywood and their parties, behaviors, etc. but their downfall is just as difficult to watch and really shows how hubris only leads to tragedy.

Also, I think you either haven't seen the movie or you just can't understand movies, but Babylon was supposed to be chaotic because old Hollywood was like that. When you say that 'chaos can't be used to portray old Hollywood', it shows that you have zero prior knowledge on this topic and you had no interest in researching anything for these videos. Multiple parts of the first party scene poke fun at real incidents that happened before, all while perfectly recreating the atmosphere of a party at the time. Damien Chazelle was brave enough to portray old Hollywood in an honest light and people like you are dodging the point like a bullet.
As for your point about trailers, you clearly don't know what a trailer is supposed to do. Trailers are supposed to give you the 'vibe' of the film as well as a dash of plot, and that's exactly what the trailer did. You have an idea of what the movie is going to be after watching it. It'll be about old Hollywood and we'll be following three different characters for a three-hour long film. Just because you're used to trailers giving away the entire plot doesn't mean that it's supposed to be like that.
If anyone has read this comment until this point, do yourselves a favor and don't listen to clueless brats like this guy who just says things that other people say online and repeat it, probably without even watching the movie. If something is divisive, watch it yourself and rate it yourself.

Releasing it the same week as Avatar 2 definitely affected box office as well.

Marketing sucked but the movie itself was fantastic! I watched it 3x. Fabulous acting, superb scenery and stories were badass! Wardrobe 👌 I for one appreciate the run time or it would have cut ✂️ the incredible history and scenes. So, the hell with any who would not agree....you don't shit 😅

Yeah but the budget was way higher for Babylon than EEAAO. Where that was still a relatively small movie but Babylon had an oscar winning director, two a list actors in the lead and a studio like Paramount backing them. While EEAAO was an A24 movie, with not major stars and fairly unknown directors

Naah man you are soo damn big fool bro, babylon was not chaotic, it just represented how the 1920s were gentlemen era but the true side always hides in the shadow and everyone seems to have their shadow in the end with brad pitt's suicide and later on followed by everyone's fall except sydney who left before his shadow became too dark

I loved Babylon! 3 hours? I didn’t want it to end! I would have watched it for 3 more hours! I could go into everything I loved about it but it would be a book.
