Why Hashimoto’s Patients Get Magnesium Deficiency #shorts

Here are 3 reasons that patients with Hashimoto’s end up with magnesium deficiency.

#1. Stress depletes magnesium and patients with hypothyroidism and Hashimoto's are less resilient to stress due to the connection between cortisol and thyroid function.
#2. The soil is depleted of nutrients due to modern farming techniques. This means you are getting less even from healthy foods.
#3. Both hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism alter the excretion of magnesium in the urinary tract and in the stool. Thyroid patients have a hard time retaining the magnesium their bodies need.

If you aren’t using magnesium, it may be time to rethink that decision!

I'm just learning that taking the birth control pill also depletes magnesium, and that those of us who were on birth control pills for ten years or more (I was) have a 283% higher than normal chance of developing hypothyroidism. Sheesh. I'm 66 and was on birth control pretty much most of the time between 1980 and 1996.

Using medication of various kinds depletes you of magnesium too. Not just birth control pills.
