My 3 biggest Hashimotos MISTAKES (Don't Do These!)

Are you making these mistakes? I was recently asked what I would've changed about the way I approached my Hashimotos Thyroiditis (Hypothyroidism). It got me thinking about the mistakes I made in the 16+ years since I was first diagnosed. There were 3 that stood out as they have had the biggest impact on me and I sure wish I had know not to do these earlier!

This is a perfect demonstration of why it is SO important to be your own advocate and research for ourselves. My trust in doctors has seriously diminished in the two years since my DX. I fired my conventional doctor the day I was told I have hypothyroidism, because she REFUSED to test me for Hashimoto’s. Hired a naturopathic doctor and will never look back.

My doctor told me, “just take the medication and don’t look up anything on the internet.” I knew better thankfully 😊

I have been unmedicated with hashimotos for 12 years now x I immediately went gluten free and Keto but feel now Paleo is a better long term plan x I teach Pilates - walk daily and now teach others Vagal releases to stay in the Parasympathetic nervous state Rest digest and Heal which has REALLY helped me with Cortisol and adrenal burnout Xxx

The three biggest mistakes mentioned in the video regarding Hashimoto's are:

Only listening to the doctor and relying solely on thyroid medication: The individual regrets not doing more research and understanding that while medication is important, addressing the autoimmune attack on the thyroid is crucial.

Neglecting the importance of diet: The speaker acknowledges not taking action on her diet earlier. After making changes like going gluten-free and following the autoimmune protocol (AIP) diet, she realized the profound impact diet had on her well-being.

Ignoring stress management: The speaker highlights the significant role stress plays in autoimmune conditions like Hashimoto's. Stress management, including techniques like meditation, qigong, and tapping, is crucial for overall health and healing.

I was just diagnosed with Hashimoto's a week and a half ago. I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism about 9 or 10 years ago along with type 2 diabetes and a few years before that PCOS. This new diagnosis makes sense with all the other stuff that has been happening to me since childhood just never really looked into then by doctors. I was never even told about diet or anything to do with Hypothyroidism. I am grateful I found your channel recently. Thank you for sharing your story and your knowledge on this.

I took charge of my own health later after I dragged it out of the Endocrinologist that I had Hashimoto's. I fired the Endocrinologist and went to my regular doctor. The Endocrinologist refused to test me when I requested a second TPO antibody test. I had been to him 10 years before and no one told me I had an autoimmune disease. I saw it in the record when I was there again 10 years later. I was actually kinda mad they didn't tell me.
My regular doctor had no problem letting me test my TPO antibodies every time I get my quarterly blood work. Through testing over and over and taking out foods. Dairy was the culprit behind my Hashimoto's. I also found that vitamin D3 helps lower the TPO antibodies at a faster rate. I will be in remission in March 2024. I am stopping the autoimmune attack on my thyroid.

Yes! Tapping and Qi Gong are wonderful outlets for me also. It is so hard to use the tools I have in the heat of the moment, but so worth it.

This is high value content and really spoke directly to me. I felt like you were speaking rt to me. 😝 I just discovered the gluten connection myself and it made a HUGE difference for me. I’m doing Pilates because I can’t relax lol and since I am type A it has been the best course for me. I have had half my thyroid removed because my thyroid was soo attacked and grew two nodes. I have to take levothyroxin permanently now 😢. My hope is that this video will reach many other sufferers before they end up having to do the course of treatment I went through. I’m working up to yoga but not there yet… 😝

I am so grateful to find your channel. I was diagnosed with Graves Disease 13 years ago and just recently Hashimoto's. I did not know you could have both but here I am. I have never felt as poorly as I do now and feel so out of control. I finally found someone to help me, who ran the right, in-depth tests to find out exactly what's going on. I'm just getting started today on my AIP diet and researching how to go about it. I appreciate you talking about stress management as I didn't even think of that and I know I totally lack skills I need to address it. I feel confident I'm going to turn this all around.

Great reminders I have had to learn myself. Lately my anxiety disorder has been on the fritz and has had me a stressed wreck. It's really tough when your physical health is so effected by mental health. I'm still trying to figure out ways to better manage it and get out of these flares again.

These are great tips!

I also know that most people with autoimmune diseases have unresolved traumas. Getting into to therapy helped me soooo much! 🥰

You are spot on! I have been battling with my hashimotos and fight or flight. I am type A personality, a perfectionist, I work so hard and stress so much over everything. Sometimes I get so mad because I’m so tired and I just have learned to operate being tired all the time. I work so hard until I literally can’t anymore and then I have to lay in bed all weekend. I need to figure out how not to be in fight mode for 5 to 6 days straight and then I retreat from everyone and everything on Sunday.
