When Goa'uld cruisers went from being a feared menace to the red shirts of space battles.

The ending with Sam being stranded, watching the fleet get slaughtered and unable to do anything was such an epic cliffhanger.

The Battle of P3Y-229 is Stargate's equivalent to Star Trek's Battle of Wolf 359, as a Trekkie I can say I shared the same sickening feeling here.

One of the most epic scenes in the entire Stargate series.

One thing I loved from this battle, was the Asgard ship. It wasn't their fight. They waited for the Ta'uri to open fire...and then went ham. In the background you can see that one Asgard ship opening up with everything it has...those tiny little peaceful Asgards, throwing every punch they have...and the irony is, they are literally the only ship in that formation that is capable of standin up to the Ori in a protracted battle. Not their fight, but they stood and fought with their allies.

I love Daniel's attempt at citing the Book of Origin back to the Ori forces. It shows that he took the time and read the ideology of the other side and is versed enough in it to recite it. Of course the Ori will not stop their invasion and doing evil just because the Book of Origin also preaches not to be evil. But its a good moment that shows the honesty of Daniel and the dishonesty of the Ori.

"In the name of the Gods, ships shall be built to carry the warriors out among the stars and we will spread Origin to all the unbelievers. The power of the Ori will be felt far and wide and the wicked shall be vanquished."

Not gonna lie. This scene felt like an actual beginning of a holy crusade.

2:18 This was such a "Oh fuck!" moment when I first watched it. It was like "Did that Ori ship just one shot a ha'tak? And there are four of these things? Oh crap..."

0:59 "I only count four ships!"

Oh, my sweet summer child...

This battle scene is crazy good, epic and chilling. Even after all these years.
The fact that the galaxy stood as one, Earth, the Jaffas, the Lucien Alliance and the Asgards fighting together and getting obliterated by just a handful of enemy ships.

Ha'taks were the most powerful spacecrafts in the Milky Way galaxy for literally thousands of years. The Goa'uld used to opress entire planets with just one of these motherships and then in this battle they all get one-shot by the Ori.

Deadalus-class Earth battlecruisers getting that are rocking Asgard shields, are getting disabled by just two shots and destroyed by three.

And though not shown, probably the O'Neill-class Asgard mothership did not faire too well in the battle either.

All that impact combined with the music, the visuals, the acting. This battle sequence is something that will always stay with me when I think of space battles. It is a masterpiece.

It's an absolute crime that Stargate is no longer on TV!!! It was one of the best sci fi programs ever made and rivaled star trek which is saying something!!!! Atlantis was awesome as well and now we have lost both of them and the person in charge of the decision to end them and put Stargate universe on instead shouldn't have a job in TV!!!

I wish I could go back and experience this episode for the first time again. Man, that summer hiatus until the beginning of Season 10 was quite a nail biter. That on top of the Atlantis Season finale that same night, it was a lot of "Uh oh, this isn't good!" 😂 Man, Sci-Fi Friday nights back in the 2000s was so much fun!

Sam just sitting there witnessing that fleet get decimated and possibly seeing all her friends killed.

This battle had it all. The ominous build-up as the gate activated and seeing the Ori fleet arrive, their ships hovering menacingly preparing for slaughter. Seeing the best ships of different factions standing side by side in a gathering never seen before or since and yet was still not enough.
We watch in horror as the once formidable Ha'taks are effortlessly obliterated by the Ori, and with the human ships faring not much better. The sudden hope of fresh reinforcements to potentially turn the tide, only to be swatted like gnats.
And finally the aliance fleet floating in ruins. The ori ships not bothering to evade the debris and just plowing through with their shields. Ready to continue their crusade through the galaxy.

I remember the first time I saw this, I was convinced the Odyssey was the one that got blown up because the Korolev had Cam and Daniel on it and therefore benefited from their plot armour... and then season 10 came around and proved me wrong

I've always thought the Ori destroying the Korolev on her maiden voyage would have had the same effect on the viewer as the Dominion effortlessly crippling, then destroying the USS Odyssey in Deep Space Nine years earlier. In universe, both ships were the most powerful that our heroes could field at the time, and they stood no chance.
