Many of you have asked who my favorite US President is, so I figured I would do a video covering that around the election. And we don't have to go too far back, just to number 41 - George H.W. Bush.

My favorite is probably Teddy Roosevelt. De-monopolized huge companies like the railroad corporations that had a stranglehold on the US, was a great environmentalist that nationalized parks and was a very, very well disciplined and scholarly individual. He was both a fantastic world leader and heavily accomplished man.

Just after 9/11. We pretty much had the world in our corner and could have reshaped geopolitics for the better. Instead we turned it into 20 years of war and made the world more partisan, more nationalistic, and angrier at the US than ever before.

I wouldnt have immediately picked G.H.W. Bush. You do raise some great points though. Id have picked Washington (and still probably would) but Bush was such a low key guy. It's easy to gloss over what he did and when he was doing it.

Remembered that George Bush lost the election for 2nd term because of raising taxes (after saying no new/higher taxes earlier) even though it was what was needed to reach a deal with democrats who allowed cut in government. I applaud him for making the unpopular (among republicans) political decision because it was the right thing to do unlike now where both parties will just keep increasing the deficit during downturns.

Maybe Peter does too much travelling these days to see the winds of change blowing through the swing states. I was always surprised how confident he was on how likely a Harris or previously Biden win would be. Those predictions didn't age well at all.

Calvin Coolidge, he was one of the few presidents in American history who actually understood what foundations America was built on and he didn't actively try to get America into endless conflicts.

Don't know if I agree, however him floating in shark infested waters after being shot down while bravely serving his country is an endearing story, and that he experienced such soul searching made me sleep better when he was in charge.
