I feel like eventually I'll wake up and see Peter Zeihan in my neighborhood doing one of these videos on a walk.

I live in México. The economy is doing better than it was before he took over and the peso is stronger than ever. Not sure how you can say he left it in a worse state lol. It's thriving partly because of the gov's hands-off approach. It's one of the only countries that left its borders open during the lockdowns and absorbed a lot of money because of that. It's the reason I and many others are here still to this day.

Peter forgot to mention the USA's involment in empowering the cartels selling weapons AND all the ammo they need for such weapons. Also US funded political parties in Mexico together with a US funded Judicial system that works for American interests also do not help the country in their fight against crime or equality. Is the heat that strong in Vegaa you would forget to mention these important details.
You can add personalities that promote half truths of Mexico's reality to the challanges Mexico has to face.

I love Mexicans. I have lived and worked along side them my entire life and they are always good people to know.

Opinion on drug cartels: it will continue to be a problem in Mexico because of the insane amount of money it generates with a high U.S. demand. Mexico doesn’t have a drug consumption problem which is ironic. The fact that Cartels have diversified income just shows how long this has been going on. Violence rates are going down and hundreds or maybe thousands of foreigners are moving here permanently.

My wife’s friend lives 1.5 hrs south of Mexico City and says cartels own everything.5 pm you lock yourself in your house and cartels burn n shoot business owners if they don’t pay monthly fees.Virtual Jails it is horrible she says.

I lived in Mexico during AMLO's presidency. What was amazing was that he was generous to the poor people with cash grants but at the same time cut services to the poor. Public hospitals and daycares which benefit the poor disproportionately were starved of funds and killed respectively. He spent massively on three projects (airport, refinery and tourist train) while cancelling probably the most important new aqueduct to Mexico City...

If money is going to the poor and the poor live in areas controlled by the cartels, can we assume it largely just goes to cartels? If not how does it stay with the people?

Interesting that she won a decisive victory if Obradors policies were so desasterous. I think she won with around 60% of the vote. I don’t know the ins and outs of Mexican politics, but the vast majority of Mexicans want to keep this going.

"Welcome to Vegas... where it's going to be 180 billion degrees today!"

Ahh, yes. But it's a dry heat. Gotta love Vegas!

The lyrics "Meet the new boss same as the old boss" comes to mind.

I'm from Mexico and voted for Claudia. I totally agree with Peter's assessment of Amlo. The problem is that the oposition is much worse. They're incompetent, they lie and are way more corrupt.

Peter, his policies were by design; buy himself support and keep those same people dependent on him. If he really wanted to help he would have adjusted policy to promote economic mobility

Just stumbled across this channel and I’m really glad that I did. It’s refreshing to receive news and the needed context to understand it without the added dramatics or obvious bias you find with other outlets. Keep up the good work!

Wife is from Sinaloa, basically AMLO has been pulling development funds to central and Yucatan resort areas rather than building up infrastructure in other parts of the country.

4:09 AMLO has repeatedly stated that he will retire from politics after his mandate. While you may be skeptical, it's inaccurate to say "he has made it clear he has no intentions of stepping back." That statement is a flat-out lie.
