Hi Skaters. I'm so excited this week as @imbrandonfarris featured me in his video, I haven't stopped smiling (or laughing). He has to be the bravest person and quite possibly the funniest too. Hope the ankle is ok xx

Here in the UK the weather is finally behaving so I've been skating outside again, yay! Thought I'd do a quick video on some of the things you need to know when heading outside.

Have fun and stay safe.

Katie xx

Normally these "how to skate outside" videos irritate me to no end because the person is there explaining how to skate on uneven surfaces while standing on the smoothest promenade EVER! But not Katie 😂, that's some proper normal surfaces one would find outside! I loved this and picked up some good hints (especially the one foot lemons)! Keep up the good work

Finally an instruction video that is not shot on perfectly flat pavement! Thank you, I'm so excited to start skating but I've had a hard time finding good places to practice as I don't have a garage/basement and live right in the city center

god I'm so glad to find one of these from a UK perspective, every time I've asked/researched about how to stay stable on rough and uneven pavements I just get 600 Americans telling me to find a smooth concrete path, like any of those actually exist here

I just wish I could practice in a place like the one you are filming, it seems so peaceful and in your shots there are no people behind haha
Seems like every time I wanna go out with my skates everyone is thinking the same thing or smtg and I end up not going because I wanna fall on my butt in peace, man😂

It feels like an inside joke…I giggled so hard at Brandon Farris’ video when it came across my Facebook feed, and thought it was hilarious when he mentioned you! And to see this video including THAT video really made my day 😂😂

Thank you for the staggered stance tip . . . there's this huge dip in my area to get into the park, and I'm honestly kinda scared I'm gonna die while doing it so thanks for the help :DDD

The rear stop for my rollerskates has become my best friend!

I cannot express how helpful this is!!!! There aren’t any roller rinks near me, and all the flat surfaces are imperfect (bumpy, cracks, twigs, etc) so this is so useful to know!
Thank you from a beginner skater!

I swear the UK councils purposely make the roads and paths as rough as possible for us skaters.

This was a great video! I used to play roller derby years ago and hurt my knee pretty badly. I've always been a little afraid of tackling outdoor skating but just bought another pair of skates to do exactly that. Thank you for the tips! I've subscribed!

I started skating a month ago and I sucked and fell alot but now recently I’ve been getting faster at skating being comfortable with crossovers and shuffle skating your videos really helped when I started and now I just watch your videos to support you and get some tips to help me 😂

I started ice skating a few months ago. It was terrifying at first (i never did any sports and my physique was awful), but i got pretty Ok and confident with it over time. I can move freely with both feet on the ice, or even with one. I can skate backward on both feet, i can plow stop. I only fell three or four times times total i think, nothing major (never word any padding).
I got bored of going in circles in one direction constantly and started dreaming about roller skating - change of scenery, can go whenever wherever. It honestly thought my ice skating skills would give me a huge head start and i would be flying with them in no time.
I was wrong! The hubris!
I fell three times in an hour, pretty gnarly, Thank God i was wearing serious protection on my elbows and wrists! I still sort of sprained my left wrist!
It’s like I’m a complete and total beginner to skating! Terrifying!
It was very hard to manoeuvre, the wheels are very clunky, wide and flat to the very edges (might try to change them), the wind, the ups and down, obstacles, uneven pavements oh my gosh!
I stand humbled! But I am not giving up. I will look for better wheels and better surfaces. It was exhilarating as well as scary. Can’t wait to groove in them eventually!

Just started getting a little more adventurous with my outdoor skating. I used to only skate outside in a small flat-ish area but just this week I have been skating over cracks and uneven grounds. The stagger stance and staying super low is how I am able to do it, basically bending the knees as much as possible but keeping my back straight. The first time I skated over a crack I was going super slow and was almost sitting... that's how low I was and when I saw it wasn't too bad and I started getting more confidence and picked up the speed a bit which actually helped.
