This channel is focused on Bones, Hormones, and Healthspan to help midlife women and beyond aim for optimal, not average, and reignite their spark!

The videos on this channel will be focused around helping women navigate healthspan and longevity through the lens of osteoporosis, perimenopause, and menopause. When it comes to osteoporosis and menopause providers and educators often get tunnel vision and your symptoms might get better, but if you don't keep longevity in mind, symptom improvement may come at the expense of heart and brain health.

Soon we are not able to eat anything! My mom passed away at 98 two years ago she used to eat everything! Potatoes, corn, beans, rice (we are from Peru) and never had a surgery, osteoporosis, thyroid issues, gut problems etc.etc. she was healthy . I am gluten free, dairy free, grain free and I have hypothyroidism, osteoporosis and a lesion in my liver. I eat super healthy everything organic, grass fed and grass finished meats, pasture raised chicken, wild salmon, shrimp etc etc ( I order all the meats ) I am 105 pounds and exercise every day, with all of that I have all those problems! I think I will start to follow my mom steps eat everything and live a long healthy life 😅😅

Wow ... everything you list here is part of my diet. I've been a vegetarian for about 30 years now and my diet is mostly grains, legumes, yogurt, nuts, and veggies. I was recently diagnosed with osteopenia, but at 73 years old I was told this was likely age related and to add more calcium to my diet. So, I started taking a calcium supplement with Vitamin D (I usually take supplements anyway). You mentioned cooking them the "right way, " but I have no idea what this means. I eat a lot of stir fry veggies ... usually with tofu or garbanzo beans. I also usually roast veggies. Hopefully my diet isn't working against my efforts to stay healthy. Also, as a vegetarian, I have no idea how I could eat a healthy diet without these things.

Still, you also mentioned that it's about how you feel after eating these things and I have no issues with this.

It's good content, but the guy has the habit of trailing off the volume of his sentences at the end of the sentence, so I can't hear what he is saying, unless I turn up the volume way too high.

Was interested in this new source of information until I started hearing Gundry-talk. Lectins and phytates are not gut healthy??? Foods containing these elements are the most gut healthy: high in fiber, phytonutrients and resistant starch, everything our microbiome requires, and without a healthy microbiome, everything else is a fail. Ok, I'm outta here.

Too much empirical info from someone who has years of background experience in this field and too little on hands info for me.
Lots of technical jargon, which don't get me wrong, I really appreciate, but too little hands on explanation for me.
Especially since, I suspect a lot of your audience eats from these food sources.
Leaves me feeling I can't win for losing.
I've recently started following you so hope I've made a good choice.

I would love to see you go over studies that compare people who eat both large and small volumes of these foods to people that don't, and also go into detail about preparation methods, and studies on them if available. Like maybe adding baking soda, and how much it reduces the acids and lectins by?

I will continue to consume beans and some of all of the foods discussed. I love bean dishes and I will learn how to cook them in way that is beneficial. Many videos out there. Thank you doctor for bringing this consideration forth. Not gonna freak out… life is too short to worry. That only destroys. Obviously the world at large eats lots of beans and rice for various reasons. Live and enjoy life!

Dear Dr. Lucas, the reason why Asians prefer white/polished rice is, because of the air humidity that can cause mold during the time the rice is stored. I live in Indonesia for 44 years.

We are eating the same fruits and veggies all year round, earlier in our grandma era these were seasonal. So u eat different every 2/3 months, now some are even flown from another corner of the world So now all these Raw Vegans HV become Unhealthy? They felt so superior & kept ranting about how raw veganism makes them look so young & looked down their nose on meat eaters. Where r they now?

Thank you Dr. Just had a Reclast infusion where I asked for an hour. They gave it to me in 15 minutes and the side affects were monumental. I have written to the Dr. and to the health insurance. I couldn't sleep for 40+ hours due to pain. These supplements are very helpful. Why do they keep telling us to take that crappy Calcium Citrate? I will try yours now. So now that infusion is working in my body for a year and I certainly do not want the follow up one. Will these supplements suffice? I always prefer a natural way and was so hesitant about the infusion, but there was pressure on me. Thank you. I'll be watching the MASTERCLASS.

Mast cell activation is becoming common from mold, other toxins, stress, covid, and more, it causes osteoporosis. so discouraging because nothing really helps treatment wise and the needed low histamine diet is so narrow, tough to know how to treat or what to consume for bone health!

Thanks, now I need the "what to actually eat" video. I'd like to see how each plant food is to be prepared to decrease the anti nutrients. Without that, my take-away is not that helpful.

Ugh ... this is a little depressing. Almonds and peanut butter are daily staples in my keto diet.

Dr. Lucas, thank you so much for this great information! Question: I heard you say several times in this video "to figure out how to cook these foods the right way." Please, how do I find out how to cook these foods the right way? I don't want to depend on some random Google search results, because it sounds really important. Thank you! 🙂

An extremely useful video ! Thank you!
If one wants to totally eliminate all these foods, what are the remaining solid food sources of calcium specifically?
I do not wish to take a calcium supplement.
Thank you in advance!
