Another reason would be in Japan nothing is free. Even water you have to pay in restaurants.
In Korea free water free side dishes in restaurants.
Korea has the greatest delivery service in the world. You can get your food delivered anywhere on the beach, in the park, where ever.
Ohhhh FREE Fastest WIFI in Korea but not in Japan.😔

If homes have no keys in Korea, what happens when you lose electricity? In the Chicago area, we lose electricity a lot when there are thunder storms or severe snow storms, so even though I have a fob for my condo door, I still have to have a regular key, in case the electricity is out or the fob system malfunctions....

I developed asthma 3 years after I came to Japan at age 12 and I absolutely can't stand cigarette smoke! I've lived here for 27 years and even though I hate the smoke, I'm forever afraid of guns in the U.S. so I'm pretty sure I'm going to stay here my whole life. Plus I've been here since I was 9 and I'm so much more used to living in Japan.

But yeah. I can't stand that cigarette smoke for 1 second. They used to smoke inside the teachers room at school. Things are getting better though.

Lol dude ... you go to another country and expect them to speak English? You don’t tip in Japan consider the table charge a tip like in America. You realize there’s male creeps everywhere in the world . Just enjoy life ... seems like the small things make you trip out

America is far more expensive than Japan! AND you have to pay a freaking tip of 15% of the dish of $15 sandwitch( really annoying!) So that makes a total of $17.25 !!! I hardly eat out in the US because I can get 3 meals in Japan for a price of one in the US. Many non japanese think japan is expensive. Not true. Japanese don't pay $10, 000 for a minor surgery like in the US or pay $3000 for an ambulance because Japan had social medicine with a cap to avoid over paying medical fees. Also even in Tokyo, there are apartments as low as $400 a month. IN TOKYO. not Kansas.
I don't know about Korea but Japan is pretty decent especially when you get old. Assisted living for old people needing nursing care doesn't cost $6000 like in the US. Average is about $1300. Overall you will have a decent living condition in Japan without a fear of falling so so so fast on a jet roller coaster ride to homelessness. Japan is not perfect at all but you can pretty much lead a safe, decent, intelligent, thoughtful, frugal life, if you are wise, alone or with someone. Single woman can travel safely on trains, planes, ferry, etc. In fact, there is a big push for single middle aged women to enjoy their life "alone" by hotels, restaurants, various entertainment spots. Do that in the US? Noooo big no no. It's unsafe and people will look at you weird. Single, middled aged, alone, in the US, are sad and scary. In Japan it means freedom to enjoy life. :) You don't go out to eat delicious food alone in the US. In Japan, you don't have to be worried all the time to survive from people trying to take advantage of you for instant gratification or money. Japan does things slow in some areas because Japanese value tradition and like old ways as well as modern things. It's kind of like "why do you buy Art? It's because it affects your appreciation for something deeper than convenience or modern machines. " I see being sticking to old ways as a message, " where are you going in such a hurry? To the place for a destruction of modern humanity? "
I like that japanese are desperately holding onto some aspects of past and old life before all the modernity took over so we can all be reminded how culture and society have been changed and keeps changing, and to remember our ancestors and our connection to them.

Omg I'm so glad to know I'm not strange and not the only person who have hates about Japan! Thank you! I feel poor in Japan. The government is also not foreigner friendly and they will do all sorts of things so you won't keep on staying or procedures are too rigid. The food is too salty or too sweet. Everything taste like soy sauce. The best food in Japan are actually not Japanese food. The only thing high on my list about Japan is the nature which sucks if you live in the heart of Tokyo. If you do live in other prefectures, good on you. Tokyo is not the best place to live at except for work and school. The culture and history - it's too much power struggles. Too much attacking on other countries. Not to equate with Japanese people. I'm talking about Japan as a nation and its history. Japanese people are def respectful.

Edit: pop culture wise: why the heck can't Japan produce equally good dramas like Korea??!! As a not fan of anime (except for drama anime like Kimino Nawa) I look for drama and movies but why the heck all the famous movies seem to be about school going kids??!! Orange, Kimino Nawa, Weathering, Erased--why???

You should study.
Korea's social security system, cultural property protection, civil law and road traffic law are imitations of Japan.
① Pension → The amount of payment is less than in Japan.
② Health insurance → Korea can use health insurance for minor injuries and minor illnesses.
In Japan, health insurance can be used from mild injuries and illnesses to intractable illnesses.
(3) Protection of cultural properties → Japan has overwhelmingly more buildings, paintings, crafts, and landscapes designated as cultural properties than Korea.
In addition, Japan is overwhelmingly preserved in historic townscapes and landscapes.
South Korea has many restoration / restoration projects that have not been historically verified, and is not objective.
④ Traditional culture → Traditional performing arts, rituals and folk events are overwhelmingly in Japan.
