In India anyone can enter anyones wedding by disguising as one of the brides or grooms family member 🤣 and it totally works

Friend: So I want to invite you to our wedding.

Me: Oh sorry I'm very busy on that day. Congratulations though

Friend: but I haven't said the date?

Me: *fades away*

Looks like I'm getting married in Japan and you're all invited! I don't have a gf though, so say hello to Mrs Left Hand McCutcheon. Also give her 30000 yen.

My Japanese cousin paid more than 60, 000 USD for her wedding ceremony and party( it was at one of the Ritz-Carlton) Almost a half of the cost were covered by the gift money from the guests. But all the food we had at the party were so fancy. I know it’s a bit pricy to go to the Japanese wedding but the ceremony and dinners were significantly fancier and way more formal than the ones in the US.

wedding in asian countries is generaly a place for big families to meet and rekindle their relationship and a stage for mostly communal interaction compared to a western wedding where the couple is the main center stage. Paying them that money is a way for guess to ease the burden or as a way to compliment the couple for organizing the event

"If you are invited to a wedding, you'll need to pay 30, 000 yen." And as of me posting this comment, (since exchange rates fluctuate) that's about 220 usd.

The wrapped food sounds bad… imagine unwrapping a banana, then having to peel it. Quite unnecessary

Not only Japan, in Azerbaijan if you are invited to wedding(toy(not in English)) you have to pay atleast 50.00 AZN depends on how closer you are relative, if you are closer more it gets like 100.00 Azn

the wedding part makes sense tho. since traditionally wedding gifts are either tons of money/home goods

It's the paying for being invited to a wedding for me. But seriously, the packed trains during rush hour is annoying but it makes more sense than individually wrapping fruits in plastic so.

Edit: This was four weeks ago. Thank you to Peppabot 1000 for shedding more light on the subject. But please, everyone else, I get it lol, I have about 9 or so replies telling me about it. Thank you, but I get it now lmao.

Actually paying for wedding is literally paying for your own food and helping for the couple to build home and other important stuffs. In my country it's a must have. Because we already know we can go to a restaurant and eat better for a cheap price.

In most Asian culture giving money as a gift is very acceptable. From where I am from, we give money to couple on their wedding (depends on your ability not really 300usd) so they have some money to use to start their family or whatever. In Asian culture it is abour helping and looking after each other.
I personally just give money when I'm invited to a wedding as it is convenient. I don't need to look for a gift fitting to the couple and carry that gift to the wedding.

Wrapping individually is rare(as far as I know, apples and kiwi fruits are sold without wrapping). In the case of bananas, they are surely wprapped. However, they are usually sold in a bundle.
