I made a $25 donation to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence on account of my effed up sense of humor and planned to ask you all to do the same BEFORE I found out that NCADV is super anti-gun. I looked into the National Domestic Violence Hotline instead and...same thing. Anti-gun. So forget it I guess.

As someone who lives in California I have a Mini-14 since AR-15s have some much onerous regulations. Definitely looking at making some of these upgrades myself.

New York resident here… (sorry) but just a heads up for James and anyone reading this. Warne makes a pair of EXCELLENT QD rings for the Mini14/30. I use them on mine and they’re the best investment for my optics.

I love the sound the mini makes when racking the bolt. AR sounds like crap.

I bought mine, the stainless steel tactical a month ago, waiting on my local dealer to receive the Samson stock, then and only then I would be able to say....I love when a plan comes together 😁

1000% agree! Love the Ultimak. absolutely worth it! I have one on my Mini with a Holosun 503 GU. It is way smaller and lighter than that Eotech and it has that "Circle Of Death" reticle as well. I can ring steel out to 250 yards at will with it.
Get a trigger job done as well from Accuracy Systems. Huge improvement! 3.5 lbs crisp and clean. $80.
Mini's are way over gassed from the factory. A gas bushing set from Accuracy Systems for $30 will get you a rifle that ejects the empty shells about 10ft, instead of a mile and is way less violent. Major accuracy improvement there.
A true Shot Barrel Stabilizer will help improve accuracy as well for $59. They look super cool too!
A Choate stock fits much tighter than the factory stock and in turn improves accuracy.
A Specter Gear 2 point sling is the only way to go in my opinion.
I get it though. The Mini is anything but the cheapest route to go. If you are looking for the best bang for your buck get an AR.
I still prefer the Mini.

Before the Ranch Rifle version, the 1-80 series, you had to use a side mount for a scope, just like the original Army M14. I scoped two of the Mini 14's 40 years ago for my older brother, and one for my ground hog hunting buddy. I had to add some thin brass shims to get the mounts perfected. However, both of these where nearly 1 MOA rifles. In shooting the Mini 14, you have to be really careful with not letting the curved stock back move vertically on your shoulder, while correcting any hand hold on the stock near the trigger. Torque the screws to spec, and find a load the rifle likes. With one of the rifles I could put 5 shots in a quarter a 100 yards. The other, my buddies, I killed a crow at 560 yards -- which he never lived down to his dying day. My brother kept his till going into his second Rest Home, whereas I purchased it; hoped to be shooting it soon. They are marvelous truck guns, plus my buddies got left on top of a truck and was flung onto a set of rail road tracks when we crossed them. We feared the worse, but except for a few scratches, it didn't even loose zero.

My buddy as mentioned had a later model Ranch Rifle stainless version, mounted in a black synthetic stock. It did not shoot very well and was more of a 3 MOA gun. I never got to give it the full varminting make over, but I'm faithfully reporting on real rifles. Women shooter preferred shooting the Mini 14 versus the AR 15, if anyone cares to know.

I used separate rings to mount an LPVO and it has worked very well. Unfortunately, my Mini shot 6-8MOA out of the box, despite being one of the newer ones. I added an aftermarket barrel stabilizer and now I'm consistently getting sub 2MOA with run of the mill m193 ball.

Bubba/California tactical. I appreciate the Mini love. I got the Ultimak and the Techsight for Christmas last year. I love 'em. However I'm surprised you didn't go for one of the barrel stabilizers like the accustrut or something like that for the added looks, erm, functionality of a stabilized barrel for reduced harmonic vibration for accuracy. Yeah, accuracy.
