Ever heard of the Banana Island Diet? If not, I'm not surprised. It was a fad diet that gained popularity a while back when the raw vegan diet was huge on YouTube. People would "ease" into a fruitarian diet by eating only bananas for an extended time.

Each year at the beginning of summer I like to do a raw cleanse where I only eat raw fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds for one week. But this time? Now that I have a YouTube audience of over 50k subscribers (thanks, guys! :)) I decided to give the banana diet a shot and document it so you can see what happens.

Trust me, I knew going into this that it was a bad idea.

In the video, I show how I managed to eat only bananas for a week (25 - 30 bananas per day!), then explain the before and after results and all the nutritional benefits and disadvantages of eating only bananas. Overall, I don't recommend it ;)

I know this isn't my typical style of video, but I figured it might be good to take a break from the usual fitness tutorials and whatnot to keep things interesting. Honestly, this whole banana diet thing was pretty much an inside joke among friends and family. I was planning on making my cleanse a week off from everything and not even shooting a video, but I figured why not change things up a bit and post this.

Went 3 days with nothing to eat in the jungle of Vietnam during 1967. Couldn’t get supplies to us. Came upon a banana tree. Loved banana ever since.

Wow.. was constipated for a couple days had two banana smoothies containing 2 bananas carrot and a celery and a 12oz cup of water..

8 hour later, I gave birth to an 8lbs turd

I've never really eaten bananas regularly before recently.. Now, I can't get enough!! They are helping me to restore my damaged muscles from working out. I feel a lot better

your not losing alot of weight/fast because your already fit and healthy. Your body doesn't need to lose more.

I'm not surprised at all by your results. The human body is designed for survival and will do amazing things to keep itself going. Now if you kept the diet up for a month, you might start to see some different results. But one week is way to short to be negatively affected, as you are still consuming plenty of calories.

Question: How many people here have not had even the mildest cold, slightly sore throat, slight headache, slight upset stomach, tiniest pimple, nose boogers, foul odors, tiniest cold sore or even one morning of waking up even slightly fatigued in the past 5 years? 10? 20 or more?

This is actually great. Bananas, while not a perfect food, can be the center of a diet. Commit to eating 5 bananas a day, as snacks, then add in the good stuff. Make a banana smoothie with spinach, tumeric, black pepper, coco powder, blueberries, and walnuts. Chill it for an hour. Then prepare some potatoes and black beans with broccoli and tofu for dinner or some such.

I did this and I loved my results. Along with some what a gollon of water. I was lean and cut !

I would have to say that the 1.5 lb loss is good. for a person who is trying to do a water fast and is overweight the weight loss is going to be more significant. a banana cleanse is really good for the lymphatic system when you were coming off a regular American or Australian or British diet.

Another idea for a banana meal is Banana Stew. Mash them in a bowl into chunks with a potato masher. Stir in cinnamon or nutmeg or another spice to vary the flavor. Eat with a soup spoon. Not bad!

One week is not a cleanse. It's just a "tip of the tip of the iceberg" change. A real "cleanse" that actually does something significant (like reversing and preventing all chronic disease, or the real definition of this nebulous term that people call "health.") takes years, bc it's down to the CELLULAR level where it matters.

The flesh seems to be higher in serotonin precursors but the peel seems to be substantially higher in dopamine precursors. For this reason, it would be interesting to do the same experiement except in addition the inside of the banana peels are scraped with a spoon and eaten along with the flesh portion. Will probably be a bit bitter but worth it to explore potential cognitive advantages.

The Medical Medium Anthony Williams is all about eating to heal. His recommendations include banana fasting and or papaya or potato fasting with butter lettuce. And of course celery juice. His books are a God send. 🙏😇💗
