i still dont get it when people installs smart home system but connected to the cloud.. convenience? all that make sense is owning a server inside our own house and only us that can access it. plus whenever the internet is down, we can still have the "smart" control if we're inside the house

I'm looking for a piece by DW about smart homes, automation and cybersecurity. These might be, btw, 2 pieces that my memory have turned into a single one. There's one that shows how an automated small hotel could be easily hacked (DW enlisted 2 cybersecurity specialists for the task) and the other (or other part) talks about how utilities services could be hacked and the dangers involved. That part talks about an attack in Ukraine and explains how domestic smart grid appliances could be hacked and used to overload the distribution system.
