She was practicing on an orange and STILL didn't line the colors up. A lesson she won't soon forget.

Dude, you give off major “I want to learn from this person” energy, like Bill Nye

Fun fact: the actual epinephrine inside the pen only costs a few dollars to produce. The several hundred dollar price tag comes from the "patented injection technology"

Btw for anyone wondering, he used a training pen for that demo, which has no needle

Also remember. Going to the ER after using an epipen is important. Epinephrine increases your heart rate, leads to palpitations, etc. you need to be monitored after use.

As an EMT I was screaming NO the entire time. What is scary about doing this is you could potentially lose the tip of your finger. Blue to the sky and orange to the thigh is correct but the best advice he gave was to hold it in the middle to avoid the possibility of it even happening. Thanks for spreading awareness. Iv seen this a few times in the field.

And yes, you can (and absolutely should) use these through clothes. Don't bother with trying to strip a person from their tight fitting jeans if they're having signs of anaphylaxis

The spray will be released once they find a way to lower the shelf life and raise the price

It's really refreshing to have a video from someone who knows what they are talking about, thank you doctor

When I was 5, I was trying to figure out the mechanics behind the needles springing out, and shot all three needles through the palm of my hand. That was a fun ER trip.

I really appreciate that instead of making fun of that lady you were professional and actually seemed to care about helping people.

Her genuine and almost offended surprise is what gets me. Thank god she was practicing and she could get help quickly

Never had to use this, but I'm going to commit this to memory in case I ever have to save a life. It was very informative. Thank you.

Unfortunately I’ve had to use these suckers more times than I can count. I’m SEVERELY allergic to every single insect bite. It’s rough. I’ll never forget the time I ran out and drove to the pharmacy just down the street because I felt my throat getting scratchy and started to feel like something was going on. I didn’t know for sure, though because I saw no bite. It reminded me I used my last epi pen though, so I went to get more to carry on me for just in case. I felt fine for about 15 mins and then I ended up passing out in the pharmacy line due to not being able to breathe and the pharmacist ran over to me and shot me in the leg so fast. I still go and see her and thank her for saving my life!

If you think that's bad, i had a friend who set off a nautical emergency flare whilst holding it upside down by the metal part instead of the plastic HAND MOULDED GRIP! The flames enveloped his hand and the metal instantly heated up and melted his hand to the metal tube. It took him a few seconds to knock it off his hand. Amazingly, after several surgeries, he recovered use of his hand.

I really appreciate taking the time after the clip to go into a more detailed explanation.
