Love to have a full EV but my commute takes about 80 miles a day and live in a condo. I bought a hybrid. Works for me.

Hybrid for now. I drive a lot but also go in areas where charging may not be available or not *safe*.

I work on vehicles for a living, and to say that the price of maintenance is cheaper for electric vehicles is absolutely a lie. First off you can't take your vehicle to anywhere for work, most mechanics do not have the knowledge of how to work or or even have the software to plug into these vehicles, so now your limited to go to a dealer or very expensive shop. Second is electrical systems are crazy as hell, one poor ground could cause the entire vehicle to act crazy, or one bit of corrosion could ruin something very very expensive like a battery. Third is sensors, and they are expensive, can be a nightmare to diag, and hard to get when they commonly fail due to national backorder. We experience these things on modern vehicles, so enjoy when there are no nuts and bolts, and it all requires a electric vehicle tech to even attempt to look at your vehicle.

I favor the plug-in hybrid because I can do my daily city driving all-electric but have no range issue on the longer trips I take several times a year.

I love driving an EV and I’m 50/50 at the moment as I occasionally have to drive to Scotland and N Wales.
I know chargers are getting better but on a commute recently I was driving home weather was awful and pulled in the services where 2x EVs where waiting for a charge slot so that would have been 2hrs of my life gone.
Personally I think the latest diesels are cleaner than petrol and you can get 5-600 miles on a tank.
I can fill up in 4 mins and be on my way.

Hybrid for now. Mine haven’t required any repairs whatsoever since owning it. The wheels and tires never get brake dust and the brakes are hardly used. Hybrids are very cheap to own from my experience.

Electric is too expensive rn, hybrid gives us the best of both worlds, gas convenience, electric economy

I own both. To be honest Hybrid works better for me because I drive long distances like 250 miles every week and I don’t even have to fill up until I have to come back. My hybrid can go 500 miles until I have to fill up. With my EV I can drive 250 miles or less depending on the hills and how I use my AC and other accessories that I use.

PHEV cars are not sold in Washington state. In neighboring Oregon, dealerships charge $10, 000 or more above the MSRP. EVs are much easier to purchase in this state. But, ideally, PHEVs make more sence for short everyday trips.

I currently drive a Ford Fusion Energi (plug in) and love it at 66 mpg. But I am really interested in the Ford Lightning.

Hybrid for me since I don't want to run out of battery on a 500 mile trip. Maybe if we find more ways to generate electricity and have more charging stations, electric might be practical. Here in California we can barely produce enough electricity to cool our homes in the summer for fear of blackouts. How reliable are the charging stations? I just read an article where a person was charging their car and ten minutes later the charging unit broke down. That's a heck of a predicament.

With EV only you couldnt evacuate Florida in a mandatory hurricane emergency evacuation. Plug in or hybrid gives you range and options .

Hybrid, best of both worlds. All cars are already hybrid actually though. They all have a battery onboard already

The big marketing fail for hybrid is they’ve been positioned as “green” vs highlighting the improved the driving experience where the electric motors provide instant power and torques when you push the petal down. I’m fact many hybrid versions of the same car have more horsepower then the gas only versions.

If/when the electric grid goes down you'll regret it if you own an EV vs owning a hybrid vs a gasoline car or Diesel.

EV cars simply aren't tactical and are impractical in my opinion and probably have an overall larger carbon footprint than other options if you really research it.

The problem with ev cars is the service cost is very expensive for the dealer. If you just buy a 1liter car much better and you can service your self after warranty

I don't know if it's worth a hybrid car, if you do many kilometers every month on the highway. For me, for example, doing 2500 km every month, of which 95% are on the highway, it's not very economical if the car is hybrid. at the moment my car (a C-class w205 diesel) is very economical, but I have the problem with the interior space, being a family of 4 people. what could I choose hybrid plug-in or full electric? thank you
