the worst thing is that one streaming service doesn't have all the movies, so you are forced to subscribe to another 5 services. Also, when you want to watch a specific movie, you have to buy it for 24 hours. So the subscription costs me more than 50 dollars a month.
Lately I've been finding used and sometimes new blu-ray movies for less than a dollar.

After the recent Microsoft outage, do people still think that relying on anything other than physical media is a good idea? I don't.

I am 100% percent for physical media. Bc I have been collecting physical media movies since 1989 & collecting physical media music since 1988. And I believe owning in owning your favorite movies on disk & your favorite music either on CD or vinyl

This is one of the best defining vids I've ever seen. Absolutely have a physical collection. Big business is largely a scheme to make themselves rich while we remain limited. This way you are your own master and can see what you want when you want. We will never be truly free until we throw off the yoke of big business and big government. A thousand thanks for this video.

Physical Media Forever. Great vid friend. These truths are only becoming more and more known among people who don’t collect.

Absolutely it's worth it! I've been collecting since the Laserdisc days of the early 90's as a teen. I have a large collection of Laserdisc, DVD, some HD DVD's, Blu Ray . I don't have to think twice about streaming anything or look for a certain movie. Plus with hard to find movies on streaming platforms, or a limited time when you can watch something seems to be the customer is at the mercy of the streaming service. You have all the freedom in the world once you purchase a disc.

Well I would say that the second any studio changes something about a classic movie, for example, to update it a little bit for a modern audience then yes you need physical media. That way you can preserve the original forever.

Do you insure it all? One fire or flood away from losing it all! Facts people!

I started collecting 3 years ago and have built my collection to about 130 titles, all movies that I love and will rewatch over time. I have already slowed down, buying one or two titles per month. I can't imagine over 200-300 titles eventually. With 200 titles if I were to watch two movies per week, which is right for me, it would take me two years to watch every title once, which is the time needed to want to watch a title again on average.

I've been collecting damn near since I came out of the womb. As I've gotten older and more tech savvy I've been making my own media server to back up my physical titles. This gives me the freedom of taking my collection with me the same way that streaming offers. Luckily I have the ability to have a huge collection since my family allows me to have a whole floor of the house to myself

I’ve been collecting since VHS, then upgraded to dvd, then Blu-ray and now 4k.
I love owning movies, then I can watch what I want without searching streaming service after streaming service .

Plenty of examples like the Crowdstrike outage, that shows relying only on the internet, and a couple big tech corporations isn't a smart idea at all

One thing I never see anyone bring up for storage is dvd binders. If you dont mind not having your collection on display, then it's the way to go! I got one that can hold 400 discs. I haven't filled it and still have dvds to put in it, but so far, I've cleared out a whole bookshelf. I'm getting another one to have just for TV shows. It also is nice if you have to move and don't want to lug around hundreds of dvd cases.

I have no choice but to keep my collection alphabetized. It would drive me mad otherwise.

One thing I do that I haven’t seen anyone else talk about is I keep a digital list of all my titles, separated by Blurry & 4K, DVD, and complete series. Each section is alphabetized, and each entry has the Title, format, and runtime. It makes it very easy for someone else to pick a movie to watch or borrow, and is very helpful when I have a set amount of time to watch something.

I got bookcases from Amazon for AUD $89.95 each, and got a friend to assemble the flat packs for me.

Keep in mind. Streaming services are not a replacement for collecting physical discs. Its a replacement for cable and satellite tv.

Paying for streaming should not prevent anyone from building a physical collection. Unless you are very tight on funds.
