I never have my embossing folder on top of the sandwich. It exposes the plastic to the rollers and direct pressure as well as the big bump that happens when the sandwich has gone through the machine. If the folder is on top rather than under a protective plate overtime it can crack or break at the hinge.

Just tried one of these embossing folders with the recommended sandwich in my Gemini and it is jammed! I can't get it to move either forward or back! What do I do now? I used a cutting plate, magnetic shim, then the embossing folder and paper. Help!

Great way to split your embossing folders. You should put the prote tive plate over them, not under.
