Lung Cancer Awareness part 1/5 - Early Diagnosis and Screening

Today, lung cancer is the biggest cancer killer in Europe, accounting for more than 20% of all cancer deaths. Nevertheless, recent progress in lung cancer research offers new hopes for the future. These include the development of new treatments, such as targeted and immune therapies, and advances in lung cancer screening.

The recent studies into computed tomography screening for lung cancer showed that it reduces lung cancer mortality. Implementing screening programs in the EU would save lives and importantly cut costs in our health systems.
