Lung air sacs become inflamed as a result of the illness, as the alveoli swell with liquid or pus, breathing becomes challenging. Pneumonia survivor here. I had contracted pneumonia when I was only a few months old and I fully recovered in the 1st or 2nd grade. Even tho I no longer have pneumonia I still have many struggles. For one I have a medical condition and have to take meds for it, my doctor assumes it could have developed from my pneumonia. It also takes a full hour or more for my breathing to go back to completely normal even when I jog because I have so much scar tissue in my lungs. I will also probably never be able to have kids because of all the drugs the hospitals pumped me full of to keep me alive. Tho I am a survivor I still suffer but I’m happy I’m still alive and with my family ❤

Got it as a welcome-gift to college. By the time it was diagnosed, I was septic and had to go to the ER. Still dunno what caused it, it's bacterial but I was tested for practically everything minus pneumococcus. Nasty nasty stuff, can be fatal even in healthy adults if it hits the bloodstream. my late sister complained to me of her shortness of breath on 19th August 2023.

i brushed it aside and told her i do not know why and at the same time, i was caring for my father as he had high fever at the time.

fast forward to 31st august 2023, my sister collapsed night time possibly after midnight as my father found her motionless on the floor.


Went to emergency and dead on 31st August 2023.. cause of death: Pneumonia. She was 44.

Til now, I regret not advicing her to seek medical help. Til now, I regret I didn't care for her as well. She was the only one whom I updated my life, shared gossips, internal jokes..

I've had pneumonia at least twice in my lifetime. The earliest one I know was in my junior high school days. Had to be hospitalized for a week due to shortness of breath & was put on a nebulizer during the stay. The latest was about 10+ years ago. Wasn't hospitalized but had to be put on some strong antibiotic meds and made frequent clinic visits. Almost thought I was going to have a 3rd one after contracting Covid last year. If that had happened, chances are I wouldn't be telling my tales today.

Just got diagnosed today. Had a fever that wouldn't go below 100 and several times went above 103. Was dizzy, could barely walk. I went to the ER and the doctor said I was lucky I came in when I did because if I would have waited a couple more days I could have been in serious trouble.
