Episode 12 of Project Kerbalshed. Today we look at putting a bunch of solar power satellites around Kerbol and beam that power to a Keostationary Relay above Kerbin using the Free Electron Laser Transmitter. The relay then converts the incoming X-rays into an IR laser and beams that down to KSC for... science! We further convert to microwave on the ground to demonstrate how such a setup could power some sort of offworld mining colony without a bunch of wires. Oh, and joy be had by all, Kopernicus has been updated for 1.8.1 so, yeah, obviously we make up an excuse to visit another star system and take X-ray measurements from there as well. For Science!!

These videos are very helpful thanks! One question I have is where the network efficiency comes from. I understand the receiver efficiency based on the spot size but don't understand where the losses from network efficiency are coming from.

One more question. I put 12 relays in low orbit and then realized they can only relay 2gw of power. I then added 8 relays in a higher orbit with a 20gb capacity. However, when I test this, the power always passes through the lower relay first and then goes to the higher relay so the higher relay only receives 2gb of power from the lower relay. I see that there is a flow priority value on the transceivers and was thinking I could somehow set the priority on where the power should flow through but I'm not sure if this is working. Do you know how this should work?
