Something to take into consideration for sure.

Walking and running are two very different motions. You don't learn to run by walking a little faster every day.

I usually make jumps in 5-10 bpm increments depending on the subdivisions (5 bpm for 16th notes and sextuplets or 10 bpm for 8th notes and triplets) then I'll try to play that lick 5-10 times in a row PERFECTLY before I bump up the bpm. That's the best method I've found to increase speed.

This is a very helpful approach. I tried upping the tempo in small increments and found myself hitting a wall at some point due to a flaw I didn’t discover until later (e.g. fingering position, wrist angle, etc.). I now practice at slower tempo, but then try a 10-20 bpm jump for a little bit to see if the technique works at that higher speed. If it doesn’t, I correct and go slower to reinforce before jumping up again. If the technique generally works and it’s just a matter of acclimatization, I take a more modest jump in speed knowing my approach will eventually get me there with repetition. Thanks for this…This channel has great practical content that you can use to make you a better player.
