The end is near for Cartoon Network. Days after the Boomerang app shut down, they shut down the official CN website with zero warning. It now redirects to Max. This seems to be another indicator that Cartoon Network, as a separate brand, is living on borrowed time. Then we talk about how weird it is that the new Looney Tunes movie is being distributed by someone other than Warner Bros.

And to make matters worse, ALL OLD cartoons will fade to obscurity with the only way to watch it being piracy sites

Kids nowadays will never get to experience the golden era of late 90s early 00s cartoon excellence. Ed edd and eddy, courage, Johnny bravo, dexters lab, powerpuff girls, the list goes on.

So, who's happy with nothing yet?

The fault of all of this was Christina Miller, former CEO of Cartoon Network.
- She is the one that filled CN with only Teen Titans God
- She was the one that greenlit all the terrible reboots
- She was the one that allowed much of CN quality go under
- She approved the politically drive shorts aa well as other political controversies.

In short she was a miny Kennedy

RIP CN. You were my childhood, but you're not the same as you once were.

The "tumblr teenage girl" has been an overall poison in the entertainment industry

From fandom, growing up and working in these places to becoming ceos

Always those types

I've been telling my friends for a while, many of these animators thought themselves to be better than the 80s shows cause their shows weren't made "to advertise toys". But they forgot to make series that were economically viable, something that could stand the test of time and be profitable And here we're, with the 80s shows still revelant (cause their people knew how to write good stuff despite the toys attached to them).

I guess those "anti-racist" public service propaganda ads didn't go over well...

Eventually bowing to every whim of an emotionally unstable individuals' ego brought down an empire, who'd have thought?

That site was my childhood throughout the early to mid 2000s. It's a SHAME how it's just gone now.

Cartoon Network entered my life when I was a six year old in the early 90s, it was rerunning a lot of 70s cartoons back then which I'd watch with my dad, I owe it some of the most beautiful memories of my childhood. RIP

They started making tv shows for adults about feelings. That’s what killed CN.

Good thing MeTV Toons is a thing, so GOOD cartoons have a place to go. Too bad not everyone gets MeTV Toons.

I feel sad and old now. I've now actually lived long enough to see most things from my childhood completely disappear. The only three things from my childhood that are still around to any extent are Godzilla, Digimon, and Transformers.

Just like with G4. Cartoon Network has nothing to offer.

Hmm...you know, it already died when they removed all the games, alone

At this rate American movies/TV/comics/whatever are dead. Might as well go all into anime.

this is surreal, i remember when TBS was airing bumpers between its usual programming counting down the days for the launch of cartoon network, and urging the viewers to call their cable network provider to ask for cartoon network.

I think I know why this is happening. Mismanagement, people slowly ditching cable and moving back to FREE broadcast television, and the rise of streaming services.

I remember when it first launched on cable. I was 19 and had completely forgot about cartoons. Then I was flipping channels and they had Transformers. And not the stupid 3D cube repackaged version. I’ve watched it ever since. This is what these blue haired frizzies forget. While they’ve only known about some of these licenses for like a week or so, our communities have been active and participating fans for upwards of 50 years.
